Especially in the endgame, you virtually need heaps of Obsidian, as you are not only completing one set of equipment but probably several – depending on what you find. If you disassemble old, completed items, you will at least get some of the materials back.
The best farming spot for Obsidian
Where do I farm Obsidian the fastest? You gather Obsidian in all sorts of endgame activities. However, one of them is particularly worthwhile: Nightmare Dungeons with the affix “Horadric Vault.” While these chambers can only appear randomly in other dungeons, they are guaranteed with seals that have this specific affix.
In the Nightmare Dungeons, you enter the Vault through a portal and activate pillars to customize your passage. In the chambers, you have limited time to eliminate monsters and thereby increase your reward level.
Once time runs out or you reach the maximum level, the boss appears. After defeating the boss, a chest awaits you, which contains not only loot but also heaps of Obsidian.
Alternative farming spots for Obsidian
Besides the Horadric Vaults in Nightmare Dungeons, you can also obtain Obsidian in the following activities:
- Kurast Undercity
- Demon Hordes
- Nightmare Dungeons
- Mercenary Hideout (part of the expansion “Vessel of Hatred”)
In the Mercenary Hideout, you can exchange materials for “Pale Signs” with Fayira once a mercenary reaches level 5. To refill your account of Pale Signs and expand the offerings, you need to level your mercenaries. This happens automatically through rapport when they accompany you in battle.
