A simple crab has the third most player kills of all non-boss monsters in Path of Exile 2, but that shouldn’t actually be the case.

What’s the deal with the crab? Almost 2 weeks ago, content creator and PoE2 expert Zizaran lost his hardcore character. Suddenly he was dead and – as he said live on Twitch – he didn’t know exactly what was happening.
A few days later, on June 9, Zizaran sat down with developers Jonathan Rogers and Mark Roberts for an interview (via YouTube). They explained to him that he hadn’t made any mistake in that situation. He had been taken down by a simple crab, which is one of the deadliest monsters in the game.
Killer Crab Leaves Unlucky Players No Chance
What makes the crab so deadly: This crab effectively fires a kind of mortar strike with multiple projectiles when you kill it during the preparation for an attack. However, this version of the crab is bugged, causing these 20 “mortar grenades” to explode immediately after firing.
Roberts then added that due to this bug, players simply die if they are standing on the crab when it fires this attack. If you kill it with a melee attack, you have no chance to dodge the 20 “mortar grenades” due to the bug.
Subsequently, the developers noted that this crab has the third highest kill count of all non-boss monsters in the game. It has accounted for more characters than most demons, beasts, cultists, etc.

Rogers used the example of the streamer to show that some enemies seem stronger due to bugs than they actually are. These errors sometimes arise from typos, such as when someone during development has written a number in the wrong column.
