The new Steam hit Dota Underlords has seen the first tier list emerge, recommending a warrior deck as the best combo. We tried the combination: Is this really the current meta? In our guide, we take a look at the best combo that the first tier list praises for Dota Underlords and provide tips for it.
What is this tier list? In other games, there are large tier lists showing which individual character is the strongest. In Dota Underlords, the first tier lists indicate which alliance has the most power (via qihl.gg). Because in Dota Underlords, it’s all about the right synergy; you need multiple heroes of an alliance to receive high bonuses.
Currently, the “warrior” alliance ranks 1st in the first tier list. We tested the combo for you.
This is the setup: The pure warrior combo consists of 9 warriors. We left the bulky Pudge at home and decided on Tidehunter as the late 10th unit, so:
- Axe, who forces enemies to attack him and ideally should receive an armor item.
- Pugna, who throws enemies around and can use mana items well.
- Beastmaster, who launches enemies into the air.
- Barb, swirling like the classic barbarian from Diablo.
- Slardar, who casts an armor debuff on enemies.
- Lycan, who summons pets and can transform himself.
- Commander, a big demon, takes the bonus with him.
- Troll Warlord, a damage machine from the second row, who fires faster at a target.
- Kunkka, who summons a ghost ship that can stun enemies.
- Tidehunter, who makes tentacles crawl from the ground.
These synergies bring this combo:
- The main idea here is that 9 warriors provide 25 armor.
- Additionally, there are two scaled heroes for 30% magic resistance.
- 2 wilds for 10% more damage.
- The two humans can stun enemies for 20% seconds.
- And the 2 stout heroes have 200 HP more.

How does the combo play? We tested the combo in the new Steam hit Dota Underlords and it is indeed very strong. The combo always makes a significant push as soon as you have 3, 6, or 9 warriors on the field.
It becomes even stronger as a match progresses when Kunkka joins with his AE-stun and the 9er-bonus becomes active.
The small abilities of the tier-1 heroes, such as Pugna’s throw, are really useful. Moreover, you are well positioned against assassin classes.
The combo is vulnerable against strong mage setups that also have a decent frontline to protect the mages. In one round, a player ruthlessly eliminated with 3 inventors and 6 mages.
But for “domestic use”, the warrior combo is currently quite recommendable. We won about two-thirds of the games with the combo.
But that is certainly not transferable. A win guarantee is provided by this “nominally”, according to the tier list, best combo either.
Which items are important in loot runs?
Generally, defensive items or buff items on the frontline are good. Mana items can be well used by Kunkka and Pugna. Damage is well placed with Troll Warlord.
Particularly feared are items that grant stout heroes more HP when they achieve a kill. Large HP pools can arise there. For such characters, armor that reflects damage is effective.
Items that allow warriors to live on after death likely cause a stir as they are stackable.
This is how we played: It is important to stay above 50 gold to receive full gold. You should only go below that to quickly buy a spot.
The main goal is to first get all heroes to level 2 and then specifically try to “collect” for 2 heroes to bring them to level 3.
The matches we played went about to 30-35, which were enough for 2 3-star heroes.
