In the survival game Don’t Starve Together, things can happen faster than you’d like, and the character might bite the dust. Fortunately, there are a few ways to be revived. We will show you how it works.
How can you be revived in Don’t Starve Together? When your character dies, you have various options to bring them back to life. It depends on whether you are playing solo or in co-op mode and where you are in the world, which method is the most suitable:
- Craft and use a Telltale Heart
- A surviving player can bring back the deceased with a Telltale Heart
- Can be done anywhere, but costs resources and you need living teammates
- A surviving player can bring back the deceased with a Telltale Heart
- As a ghost, visit a resurrection stone in the world
- Click on it and you will be revived
- You need to find a resurrection stone first and remember where you saw it
- You can be revived at each resurrection stone only once per save
- Click on it and you will be revived
We’ll explain how exactly that works and what else you need to pay attention to here. Additionally, there are a few other methods by which you can be revived that we will introduce to you.
Crafting a Telltale Heart and reviving teammates
The most effective and rewarding method in co-op is definitely the Telltale Hearts. You can craft them at any time, as long as you have the resources, and you are not bound to any location for their use.
To craft them, you need:
- 3 x Grass Tuft
- 1 x Spider Gland
- 40 Health Points
The main issue in the early game is mainly the health points required by the creator to bring back their buddy. Because especially at the beginning of the game, health points are a very valuable resource.
However, if you can afford to lose that, this method is the fastest and easiest way to bring players back to life, as you can find the other materials in abundance. Then give the item to the spirit of the fallen teammate, and they can revive themselves with it.
Finding resurrection stones and reviving yourself
If you’re not keen on investing valuable health points or playing solo, resurrection stones are the method you should first consider. Although they represent a finite resource, as you can only be revived at each stone once, reviving there costs no materials or health energy.
You can recognize them by the glowing runes on their surface and a round platform. If the runes no longer glow, the stone cannot be used. Unlike in regular Don’t Starve, resurrection stones can also spawn in caves here. So don’t overlook them when searching for them.
Using the flower portal at the starting point
An alternative route to the stones is the flower portal at the starting point of the world. Go there as a ghost and click on it to be revived. However, the server mode must be set to “Endless” or “Relaxed”; otherwise, you cannot use the portal as a revival point.
Additionally, there is only one flower portal in the entire game world unless you enable that they are also present in caves. This means you are very location-bound if you want to use this method. Depending on where you die in the world, this method may also be less suitable.
Creating a Meat Effigy
As an additional safety measure, you can also create a Meat Effigy of yourself that will revive you at its location in case of your death. To do this, you need the following materials:
- 4 x Beard Hair
- 4 x Cooked Meat
- 4 x Boards
- To place it, you also need: 40 Health Points
You can place multiple Meat Effigies of yourself, but each one costs you 40 health points. So choose wisely whether you want to take that risk.
Wearing a Life-Giving Amulet
This is a magical item that you can either craft at the Prestihatitator or find with some luck in the world by digging up a grave with a shovel.
Crafting the item itself is relatively expensive, and obtaining the materials is not that easy, which is why it might be worth falling back on the other methods or hoping for luck when finding it.
To craft an amulet, you will need:
- 3 x Gold Nugget
- 2 x Nightmare Fuel
- 1 x Red Gem
If you die while wearing a Life-Giving Amulet, you will be revived at the spot of your death at the next dawn. Anyone nearby will fall asleep, and your amulet will break.
Additionally, the amulet heals you automatically for 5 health points for every 5 hunger every 30 seconds if you do not have full health. However, it also loses 5% of its durability each time.
Don’t Starve Together continues to grow in popularity. This is partly due to regular updates and recurring sales, where you can add it to your library for little money and play it with your friends. MeinMMO editor Dariusz is so enthusiastic about the game that he feels ashamed to have paid so little for it: A survival game on Steam is so good that I feel ashamed to have only paid €1.49 for it
