Before the pre-orders begin, the developers of GTA 6 have added new images. They once again showcase a familiar location, allowing us to assess what has changed in the past year.
What is this image? The last time we saw Jason’s house was in trailer 2, which was presented on YouTube over a year ago. There, in the opening scene, we get a glimpse of the beachfront house on stilts, which are presumably meant to protect against flooding and high water.
Now, the developers have given us a new look at the property as part of the new Ultimate Edition, and it looks different than before.

Graphic downgrade or just a filter?
What can be seen? In the new image, the house looks different than in the trailer. Not only have many of the puddles around the house disappeared, but it also seems as if there is a filter over it that makes everything appear a bit more yellow.
This is something typically seen in movies and shows set in Mexico and is known to some as the “Mexico filter.” If you look at the stilts and wooden elements of the house, you can tell that everything seems a bit different than in the trailer.
The screenshot might have been captured in-game and gives us a perfect comparison between trailer and in-game graphics. Here you can compare for yourself:
What has changed? The house looks almost completely different in the direct comparison. The new house is a bit taller, the roof is steeper and the chimney that protrudes is longer.
However, the graphical elements are perhaps even more interesting. While the house in the trailer has a nice shading and both the vegetation and the reflecting puddles look great, the new screenshot is far less detailed.
It seems that vegetation has been minimized, and the ground beside the path and grass texture has only a few grass elements. The shadows in the second image appear simpler. The shadow on the yellow car also doesn’t look as good as in the trailer image.
You can tell this because the house appears more placed there. At the same time, the new screenshot looks more like “in-game,” as the graphics probably will actually be in the game.
