In Diablo 4 the next patch is coming, adjusting the drop rates and the bosses in the pit. However, no date for update 1.4.2 is known yet. MeinMMO provides the patch notes in German.
The highlights from the patch: The drop rates for Stygian Stones in the pit, the new endgame activity, will be increased with patch 1.4.2. The bosses in the pit are also expected to be revised and adjusted to the respective level of the dungeon.
With season 4, a new crafting system has been introduced, for which you collect hardening manuals. After the patch, you will also recognize their drops on the ground, as their name will then begin with “Manual”. Additionally, no duplicates or outdated hardening manuals will drop anymore, and none that you have already collected or for which you have a version of higher rarity.
Moreover, completing the final dungeon, presumably both on world level 2 and world level 3, will grant you a nightmare seal. And the bug with the Uber Unique “The Grandfather” will also be fixed by patch 1.4.2.
When will the patch go live? This is currently unclear. On the website, the developers write: “Please note that the exact timing for this patch has not yet been determined. We will keep you informed.”
Once patch 1.4.2 is live, the bonuses for the “Blessing of the Mother” event will also be adjusted. In the forum, community manager Adam Fletcher writes that for the first few days of the event there will be 35% XP and 35% gold, but as soon as patch 1.4.2 is released next week, there will be 25% XP and 50% gold.

Higher chances for Stygian Stones
What do I need Stygian Stones for? The drop rates for Stygian Stones in the pit were apparently very low before. You need them to summon the “Tormented Echoes”, i.e., the bosses in the “Level 200” version. In addition to the stones, you need three times the amount of “normal” boss mats.
With patch 1.4.2, the drop rates for Stygian Stones in the pit will be increased. Blizzard provides the following examples:
- Level 1: 5 %
- Level 40: 10 %
- Level 100: 18 %
- Level 200: 30 %
The change seems to be well received by the community. Diablo expert and streamer wudijo expresses in his YouTube video: “The Stygian Stones are being buffed, that’s something we’ve been waiting for.” He suspects that the chance for the stones was below 5% and did not scale with the levels in the pit.
For the “Tormented Echoes” you need a strong build. You can find the best endgame builds in Season 4 of Diablo 4 here:
What else is being adjusted in the pit? After the patch, you will no longer see the highest available level by default when selecting the pit level, but rather the last completed level. With patch 1.4.2, the developers are also adjusting the damage from boss strength and the boss affixes to match the difficulty level of the dungeon. So far, the bosses are partly so tough that players ask whether the higher levels can even be completed without cheats.
