On June 9, 2026, the “Monument of Triumph” update for Destiny 2 will be released. The community is excited but also wonders about the current activity of the devs – after all, the online shooter is approaching its end.
What is this wish about? The community is currently discussing a post from the Destiny 2 team on X. It is about a preview of the “Immortal Legend Titan.” The developers write:
If you equip both the chest and helmet ornament, a crown will be placed on you. Would you prefer the helmet without a crown? Then try another chest piece. Guardians who have been around since the announcement of “Destiny 1” may recognize where the inspiration for this helmet comes from…
And indeed, player Alex_B115 on Reddit introduces his contribution to the preview with a corresponding comment: “It’s now official, folks! And the design is said to resemble the original!” In a second post, he adds:
Correct me if I’m wrong, but this might actually be the first time Bungie has confirmed the existence of this helmet at all. We never got the original, but I think it’s pretty cool that they designed something that reminds us of one of the first Titans we saw back then. Incredible!

With “Immortal Legend Titan,” the devs are now evidently fulfilling a wish from the community.

How does the community react? Players are of course happy about the new feature. At the same time, they wonder: Why now? After all, the end of Destiny 2 is a done deal. With “Moments of Triumph,” the very last update for the online shooter by Bungie is set to be released on June 9, 2026.
This is somewhat reminiscent of Amazon Games and New World: After the announcement of the end of the MMORPG, various new features and improvements suddenly appeared on the servers, which players had been waiting long for. This made some feel downright misled.
Similar sentiments can now be found in some of the comments on the recent announcements for Destiny 2.
