Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV has been delayed by nearly 3 months and will no longer be released on September 17, 2026. However, the community does not seem to be upset at all.
When will Dawn of War IV be released after the delay? In a release update on Steam and YouTube, the makers of Dawn of War IV inform their community that they have decided to postpone the release of their game to December 3, 2026.
Game Director Jan Theysen explains that the team needs the newly gained weeks to implement feedback, fix bugs, and polish the game’s performance. Feedback from community playtests has already shown that the game feels right and effectively reflects what makes Dawn of War so special. Nevertheless, Theysen emphasizes that the additional development time will be worthwhile.

The community is neither worried nor blaming the developers
What does the waiting fanbase say about this announcement? The Warhammer community is not upset about the postponement of the release but trusts the team that it is the right decision:
“As long as it is good, the effort will be justified,” writes Happy_Bad_Lucky on Reddit, “Just please be good. I need this.”
Dolomitexp also expresses: “I have plenty of games to keep me busy until December. LET THE EMPEROR COOK!”
While Dawn of War IV leaves the packed September full of game releases with the delay, it can settle in comfortably with a release in early December within the “explosion radius” of GTA 6. However, the community does not seem to be worried, as Rockstar’s giant is only available on consoles and Dawn of War IV is mainly played on PC, as fans speculate.
“Wow, Rockstar is so considerate that they are not releasing the game on all platforms so that other games can be successful,” jokes Trumpet_of_Jerico.
