While players are currently looking forward to the release of Path of Exile 2, the developers are putting another game from their own house on hold. It was supposed to outshine the major competition from Diablo.
Which game is it? The developers of Path of Exile 2 were simultaneously working on a mobile version of their game. In their presentation back then, the developers deliberately emphasized showcasing the competition in the form of Diablo Immortal.
They used several insiders from the Diablo community to describe what will set their game apart from Diablo Immortal.
The core points of the game were:
- The game will be developed “in-house” in New Zealand.
- There will be no “bullshit” – nothing that leans towards Pay2Win.
- The goal is simply to create a “good game” specifically designed for mobile devices.
Now, as the release of Path of Exile 2 approaches, the project is on hold. The head of PoE2 has an explanation for this.

What about the mobile version? The project “Path of Exile Mobile” is currently on hold. This was explained by the head Jonathan Rogers in an interview with content creator Zizaran on YouTube. There he says: “We put the project on hold when we realized we needed the resources.”
The developers were pulled from the project to develop the interface of Path of Exile 2 for consoles. For the second part of the series to run well on consoles, the developers simply needed additional support.
However, the developers will not be working on Path of Exile 2 indefinitely. Once the development of the console version of PoE2 is advanced enough, the additional resources are supposed to be released again and likely return to Path of Exile Mobile.
The major competition for Diablo Immortal is therefore not at an end, but is currently taking a break to ensure that PoE2 becomes a good game.
