The developers of Crimson Desert have made a sick boy very happy and have also delighted his parents.
Who is it about? The young Jax is a fan of Crimson Desert. Whenever he plays it, he can forget the world around him. This also pleases the boy’s parents, as Jax’s life is actually shaped by his illness.
The boy suffers from Angelman syndrome, a “rare genetic mutation on chromosome 15. […] It is often accompanied by developmental delays, cognitive impairment, above-average happiness, and a significantly reduced ability to communicate verbally.”
In Crimson Desert, however, the boy can be as free as any gamer would like to be.
A video that changes everything
How did Pearl Abyss notice the boy? The boy’s mother was so happy that her little one could do everything he wanted in Crimson Desert and let his imagination run wild.
That’s why she recorded a video of the happy moment and shared it on social media. The video went viral, and even in Korea, Pearl Abyss saw the little fan joyfully running through Pywel.
But it was enough for more than just a smile in Korea, as the developers came up with a plan.
What did the developers do? The developers likely got in touch with the parents, as some time later, the boy received a gift from Pearl Abyss. The package contained the Collector’s Edition of the game, which includes not only the game itself but also accessories such as a real map of the game.
The edition is not cheap and currently costs €279.99 on Amazon in Germany. A dragon statue is also included, which the boy apparently liked. His mother reacted to the package better than we could express here:
“They gave him a moment where he lacked nothing. A moment where there were no limits for him. A moment where he could just be a child experiencing an adventure.”
The mother is very grateful to the developers for their kindness. She is deeply touched by how nice the developers were to her son. She writes on Facebook: “This is my son! Thank you for sharing this story! It means a lot to me that Pearl Abyss was so nice to Jax – they truly deserve great recognition!”
Whether with or without the Collector’s Edition, Crimson Desert captivates its fans in unexpected ways. A phenomenon is sneaking in for many that was last seen with Skyrim, and that’s a good sign: The community has found its new Skyrim and explains why they still can’t get enough after hundreds of hours
