Activision allows you once again to test the latest Call of Duty before the release, but if you put on your spending pants, you have more time for the grind.
What is this free test? As the hot phase of a new Call of Duty approaches, two important dates are a tradition at Activision and among shooter fans:
- COD Next – an event on August 21, 2026, where the developers will present a large amount of information about the next installment of the series as well as gameplay sessions from selected content creators
- Date: August 21, 2026
- an open beta where you can test the new game yourself
- Date: August 28, 2026 to September 1, 2026
Especially the free participation in the open beta has been a fixed part of the pre-release phase of Call of Duty for years and is a crucial factor for players in deciding whether to buy the upcoming installment of the shooter series or skip it.
COD allows pre-orderers to get in first again
How are gamers with deep pockets at an advantage? As in previous years, there will also be an early access phase for the beta of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. This is available to players who pre-order the game. Pre-orderers can then already enjoy the latest COD from August 21 to 25.
With the early start, pre-orderers have various advantages. On the one hand, they can of course spend 5 more days in the game. On the other hand, these additional days allow them to level up or unlock weapons or attachments, learn the maps and their paths as well as spawns, and often even recognize a first meta.
So you are at a gameplay advantage in the beta if you spend €69.99 (or €79.99, depending on the platform) for MW4 before you could test the game yourself.
