1995 – The Usual Suspects
Here too, Yani can’t be separated from her Crocs-like shoes. She mimics a moment of Verbal Kint as he leaves the police station, and his supposed disability gradually decreases, revealing his true identity. In the end, he lights up a cigarette – as you might guess.
2007 – Resident Evil: Extinction
Carlos Oliveira casually smokes a cigarette as the camera zooms out of his vehicle, where several zombies can be seen. Yani also makes herself comfortable in a vehicle surrounded by zombie cats.
1982 – The King of Comedy
Ruper Pupkin mimics a stand-up comedian and wears his iconic outfit, which is being imitated by a cat girl.
2000 – In the Mood for Love
Chow Mo-wan sits in a white shirt with his back to the camera in a dimly lit room, smoking a cigarette. The thick clouds of smoke also made it into the intro of Chainsmoker Cat.
2014 – Aoi Hono Episode 11
The real template shows a young man in a messy room, throwing something to the ground. In the anime, an object also meets its fate and is thrown to the ground.
1994 – Pulp Fiction
Mia Wallace rolls her eyes after an overdose and realizes her nose is bleeding. The original shows drug use even more clearly, as the eyes are red and irritated, and the cat girl’s gaze goes to the sky.
2019 – Midsommar
In the disturbing finale of the horror film, various people dance in front of a burning heap of flames that devours a triangular house. A cat girl does the same in the anime.
1977 – The Yellow Handkerchief
The actor Ken Takakura holds a glass with his eyes closed, takes it with both hands, and prepares to take the first sip. It is the first beer after his release from prison. A cat girl does the same in the anime.
1995 – Fallen Angels
Two cat girls are sitting together on a motorcycle, with the driver having a cigarette in her mouth. The camera perspective is slightly distorted, which is due to the original. Here, Michelle Reis leans against Takeshi Kaneshiro’s back.
1985 – The Breakfast Club
Another Breakfast Club! This time, the student clique slides through the frame as they run through the school hallways to escape the principal. They come to a sudden stop in front of the red double doors.
2000 – Ju-On: The Curse 2
In the film, the boy Toshio sticks his head out of the floor and stares at the audience with wide-open eyes. In the anime, it’s not as scary: the cat girl peeks out from under a tatami mat and is surrounded by styrofoam packaging and drink cans.
2001 – The Lord of the Rings (The Fellowship)
Frodo Baggins lies on the ground and reaches for the One Ring, which flies directly in front of the camera. In the anime, the ring has been replaced by a cell phone.
2010 – Outrage
Protagonist Otomo looks into the camera with a cool gaze in his light jacket, flanked by his followers. In the anime, several menacing men and a few cat girls can be seen instead.
1999 – Fight Club
Tyler Durden and the narrator walk in front of a bus at night. Just like Yani, Tyler smokes a cigarette. Right after that, Tyler is seen looking into the camera, drenched in sweat, replaced by the landlord in the anime. The closing shot features Marla Singer, who unashamedly smokes a cigarette during a support group meeting.
1968 – Adieu l’Ami
The actor Charles Bronson has a cigarette in his mouth and walks past other characters like Alain Delon’s character, with his hands in his pockets.
1983 – Flashdance
Lead actress Jennifer Beals dances as Alex in the studio in her skin-tight black suit. Sun rays accompany her and illuminate the dance floor.
2007 – Spider-Man 3
Peter Parker stands under the influence of the symbiote in the third installment of Spider-Man and gains an unprecedented self-confidence. He dances arrogantly in a black suit. The cat girl mimics the movements.
2022 – Wednesday Episode 4
Wednesday Addams dances in this scene at the school ball, Rave’n Dance. Her dance seems quirky, which draws the attention of the entire school. The cat girl also mimics this dance.
2020 – Druk: Another Round
The excerpt shows the finale of the film. Mads Mikkelsen as Martin spins in ecstatic joy in front of the harbor basin and jumps into the air. The cat girl does the same.
1997 – Titanic
In this scene, Kate Winslet appears as Rose DeWitt Bukater, joyfully spinning in a primary class dance scene. In the anime, this is taken over by a cat girl – but she is naked.
2007 – Death Proof
In this scene, Arlene aka Butterfly performs her iconic lap dance for Stuntman Mike. In the anime, the two are replaced by two cat girls, with the one in the back getting a nosebleed from excitement.
1977 – Saturday Night Fever
The scene shows John Travolta as Tony Manero in action on the illuminated dance floor of the disco. In the anime, the role is taken by Yani’s landlord.
1968 – Adieu l’Ami
You made it! The last scene is again from Adieu l’Ami. The wide-open eyes and mouth belong to Dino Barran. Yani mimics the pose, but a cigarette falls from her mouth.
