About a week ago, Forza Horizon 6 celebrated its release, and players have already identified a common enemy.
Who is this arch-nemesis? bowie knife99. This is not a mysterious player driving through virtual Japan, intentionally crashing into you. bowie knife99 is an AI-controlled driver that you must face repeatedly in your races.
Last week, bowie knife99 became a meme in the Forza Horizon community. Whether on Reddit, X, or in videos on TikTok – players everywhere are talking about the AI adversary because he brings chaos and frustration.
“Who the hell is this BowieKnife99?”
How does he grief players? bowie knife99 appears in nearly every race. At lower difficulty levels, he drives recklessly and uncontrollably. He ignores the track layout and slams into players at full speed. Occasionally, he even flies over a hill beside the road.
At higher difficulty levels, bowie knife99 suddenly turns into Michael Schumacher in his prime. He takes perfect corners, doesn’t lose time anywhere, and drives faster than his car should be able to. Yet, the notorious driver continues to indulge in unfair driving maneuvers.
The unique driving style of the AI opponent causes players to lose and have to repeat their races. bowie knife99 is fast but also unfair and is considered a “Dirty Driver”.
This is the experience of MeinMMO editor Dariusz: bowie knife99 is the only bot name I can (unintentionally) remember. Even during my pre-release test, it was bowie knife99 that I kept colliding with while playing the campaign – both fairly and unfairly.
When my friends also started Forza Horizon 6 at release, it didn’t take long for one of them to yell bowie knife99’s name in frustration on Discord. He is indeed as bad as the memes suggest.

If you don’t feel like dealing with pesky AI opponents, you can race in drag races. Even if you face bowie knife99 and his friends instead of real players, they mostly drive in straight lines and don’t slam into you.
