Update from September 16, 2026 at 3:00 PM: The pre-download for the test version of Aion 2 has started on Steam and Purple. Additionally, we have updated our second page with all details about the launch scale test once again.
Note that some MMO enthusiasts from the editorial team still do not have access to the pre-download. They had signed up for the playtest in advance and are now seeing the familiar message “You have requested access to the playtest. You will receive an email notification once the developer accepts more participants.”
All editorial staff who clicked on the playtest for the first time now have direct access to the download. This is likely a bug. Actually, everyone interested should be able to start the download. The test client is 81.57 GB on Steam.
Original message – What does the roadmap for the global launch of Aion 2 look like now? Thanks to the announcement of the early access phase, it was already clear that the official launch of Aion 2 would take place on October 5, 2026, but NCSoft announced the exact date only yesterday, during the Opening Night Live of gamescom.
Much more interesting was another date that got a bit lost in the flurry of announcements: Aion 2 will actually have a test before the global launch! This will take place from September 17 to 18. The roadmap to the launch of Aion 2 looks as follows:
- September 16: Pre-download available starting at 3 PM
- September 17 and 18: Launch scale test
- September 30: Early access starts for all owners of a founder pack
- October 5: Official launch of Aion 2

12-Hour Test
What else is known? The launch scale test will not run continuously on these two days, but only during two designated time periods, for 6 hours each. This way, the developers want to attract as many players to the servers as possible in a tightly defined time frame to stress test them.
The test is scheduled to run from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM on September 17. On September 19, the test server will then open from 9:00 PM to 3:00 AM. Anyone interested can participate via Steam or NCSoft’s PURPLE platform. More details about the test can be found on the following page.
