The developers of the MMORPG Aion 2 have revealed their new release date for the West and also explain how the game is supposed to differ.
When does Aion 2 start? While the new and long-awaited MMORPG Aion 2 will launch on November 19, 2025, in Korea and Taiwan, players from the West will have to wait longer. The global release of the game is expected to follow only after the MMORPG has been further improved in Korea.
The developers at NCSoft report in the new “Earnings Call” to their shareholders that they are currently expecting a release in the second half of 2026 for the West. This means it is expected to launch between July 1 and December 31, 2026 – around the same time as the new MMORPG Chrono Odyssey. But the developers reveal even more about the new MMORPG.

Less Pay2Win and made for younger generations
What else have the developers revealed? In discussions with their shareholders, the developers shared more about their ideas for Aion 2. It was correspondingly interesting for the investors how they plan to make Aion 2 financially successful.
Here there was a change in thinking from the developers, as they want to rely less on Pay2Win than they did with previous titles. This is supposed to secure a larger player base for Aion 2 and thus contribute to long-term success.
Who should Aion 2 appeal to? In response to this question, the developers of the MMORPG give a surprising answer. According to gurufocus.com: “Byeong-Moo Park stated that AION 2 targets a younger audience who prefer shorter play sessions. The game offers a mix of PvE and PvP experiences, thus catering to different player preferences. AION 2 differs from AION Mobile, a separate title being developed for the Chinese market.”
Aion 2 is thus expected to deliver rather short-lived content that can be completed faster than the typical raids that used to take hours to finish. This is a trend that is repeatedly seen in the genre, most recently with the new MMORPG Blue Protocol: Star Resonance.
