MeinMMO editor Caro is always happy when she can further develop her miniature skills. Thanks to a friend who usually paints in a different area, she became aware of an affordable expansion of her tabletop hobby box that she can no longer do without.
Since I started painting miniatures about a year ago, I have also been able to inspire a proud number of friends for the hobby. Just recently, a friend visited me, and I was simply convinced that she would enjoy painting the tiny figures. She already brings the best prerequisites as an enthusiastic nail art artist, and as it turned out, also the best tools.
People who master fine motor skills and patience for the detailed painting of small areas like fingernails can have a significantly easier start in the equally fine painting of miniatures. But instead of me being able to impart my knowledge to her, she was the one who showed me a completely new, even overwhelming and simply wonderful revelation: Nail art brushes. One of the best tips I have learned since starting the hobby.
Brushes that finally solve one of my most annoying problems
Even before I was able to test the highly praised brushes for nail art myself, I was rather cautiously optimistic. I am getting along quite well with my previous, not very expensive hobby brushes, except for one problem: With the very, very, very fine details, they just won’t cooperate.
Apparently, I should have listened more to my friend’s words, who said at the first sight of my brushes: “Girl … No.” Because, oh my God. The first time using these brushes was simply what others might call divine intervention.
I dipped the damn thin tips in a little paint, just as I would with a normal brush, started drawing a line … and just had to scream out of excitement.

So much joy for really affordable brushes
The great thing about the brushes is that they are relatively not only much cheaper than some other brushes for miniatures (at least the set with 5 brushes for 4.99 euros that my friend brought), but they also simply do not fray.
Of course, they are not brushes that are used for everything on a miniature, but especially lines can be done really well – with trained calmness.
I quickly reordered the brushes for myself, as I definitely want to continue using them when my good friend cannot visit me every day. However, I am very happy that we were able to teach each other something new about painting miniatures. Perhaps I should also show my fingernails some artistic love in return.
Besides the nail art brushes, I also stumbled upon something else, but more classic in the miniature and tabletop hobby: vegetation. Whether grasses, flowers, or other plants, they captivated me right from the first attempt and it was easier than expected: With simple means, your miniatures will become even prettier, and you won’t even need much money or skill
