The new MMORPG Scars of Honor starts today, April 30, 2026, in the playtest on Steam and you can take a look inside for the first time.
What kind of game is it? Scars of Honor has evolved from a solo project to an ambitious MMORPG with over 100 developers. The developers focused on popular genre mechanics, featuring a colorful comic style, a theme park with dungeons, quests, and PvP, as well as two opposing factions with their own races and classes.
Unique, however, are the titular “Scars,” which are part of the extremely extensive talent tree of each class. During your gameplay, you receive cards from which you must choose, as in a roguelike. They enhance your character in one way or another, allowing for individual builds.
Although the cards you receive are random, you activate a certain number of the Scars yourself, meaning there’s no need to fear character builds being ruined by randomness.

A Playtest Full of Content
What does the first test offer? The developers emphasize that the first test of Scars of Honor is meant to be a technical test and that much in the game is still far from finished, yet they have provided plenty of features for you to test.
- There are 4 playable classes: Paladin, Mage, Ranger, and Druid
- There are the following 6 races: Humans, Dwarves, Undead, Bearan, Gronthar, and hellish Demons
- You can fight and experience the early leveling phase
- Quests and exploration of the open world (specifically, the region Ondall’s Fall is mentioned)
- Talents and the innovative Scar system will be tested
- Collecting and crafting
- World boss Lord of Shadows
- Faction bosses in the main cities
- PvP battlegrounds and arenas
However, not all content will be available on the first day. The developers plan to unlock the content in three waves, allowing enough players to focus on the features and collect corresponding data.
How can you participate? The playtest runs exclusively on Steam. You can easily sign up by clicking the green “Request Access” button and then hope for an invitation.
No specific start time or whether all players will be accepted has been communicated by the developers so far. The playtest is scheduled to run from April 30, 2026, to May 11, 2026, perfect for those who want to spend May 1, 2026, without a beer cart.
Scars of Honor is particularly interesting for fans of old-school MMORPGs and theme parks. With 100 employees, there is also enough manpower behind it to make the title a success.
