What are the prerequisites?
In WoW: Forever, you absolutely need the riding skill if you want to use mounts.
To do this, you must reach certain level thresholds to learn and improve your riding skill. Additionally, a certain amount of gold is required.
Once you have met the prerequisites, you need to visit a riding trainer and learn the following skills:

Just look for stables in larger towns where animals are kept. You will usually find a riding trainer there as well.
Note that prices can also be 10% lower if you reach a corresponding reputation level.
Where do you get your mount?
You receive your first mount directly when you acquire the skill “Novice Rider” from the riding trainer. Its appearance is based on your chosen race.
If you want to purchase additional mounts, the following applies:
- Additional race mounts in different colors (+60% speed)
- 20 Gold
- Epic race mount (+100% speed)
- 200 Gold
You can obtain other mounts as drops from enemies or purchase them from certain vendors as well as in the auction house. Some achievements or quests also grant you new mounts.
Some classes, like the Paladin or Warlock, also have class-specific mounts that you receive through certain quest lines.
Additionally, there’s the option to acquire mounts through the shop, such as the ground mount Sky Blue Prideclaw or the faithful companion of the experienced adventurer from the pre-order versions.
Why can’t some mounts be ridden?
Each mount has various prerequisites that you must meet. So if you can’t use a mount, look for unmet conditions in its description marked in red. These can include:
- A specific minimum level
- A special skill
- A specific PvP rank or reputation
- A specific class
The animals become ridable when you meet the red conditions.
Can you ride mounts of other races?
Yes, you can. However, you need the corresponding riding skill, which you can acquire from the appropriate race riding trainer. However, you cannot ride mounts of the opposing faction.
Do you have to unlock the mounts with each character?
No, every mount you buy or obtain in another way is unlocked account-wide and you can use it with other characters.
However, what you need to achieve individually for each character are the prerequisites that each mount comes with.
So with new characters, you at least need the skill “Novice Rider” and level 40 to be able to ride at all.
Are there flying mounts?
No, in WoW Forever, there are only ground mounts.
