WoW Forever: Increasing Mount Speed – Requirements and Possibilities
The speed of your mounts depends on the mount itself and not on your riding skills. Therefore, your mounts will not automatically be faster when you learn the “Expert Rider” skill and can ride mounts with +100% riding speed.
If you want to travel faster, you will need to acquire faster mounts.
However, there are a few options and exceptions that can make you travel faster even with generally slower mounts.
More Speed Through Items and Equipment
- Carrot on a Stick
- A trinket that increases mount speed by 3%
- Source: Obtained in WoW Classic through the quest Gahz’rilla for the dungeon Zul’Farrak
- Gloves – Riding Skill
- An enchantment for gloves available through the profession Enchanting
- Speed bonus currently unknown
- Mithril Spurs
- A Blacksmithing upgrade for boots
- Speed bonus currently unknown
- Gift of Galloping
- A level 60 item
- Available for 150 gold from Mister Graphed in the Riverglades
- Can be combined with other bonuses
- Grants a 10% speed bonus for 15 in-game days (real time: 360 hours)
- Note: The effect is stackable with other bonuses but continues even when logged out
Additional Speed in Certain Areas
- The Desert Rose
- Applies in desert areas
- Grants a 7% bonus to mount speed
- Source currently unknown
- Wintersaber Hide Lined Gloves
- Applies in Wintergrasp
- Gloves (from level 54)
- Increase mount speed by 6 %

- Set Rider of the Plaguelands
- Applies in the Western and Eastern Plaguelands
- Wearing two pieces of this set grants a speed bonus of 5%

Faster Travel Through Racial Abilities
The Taurens on the Horde side have a racial ability that allows them to run as fast as normal mounts for a while.
Exception: Shop Mounts
Currently, there is a mount that adjusts to the riding skill you have learned: The Loyal Companion of the Adventure Veteran, which you receive when purchasing a Forever package. When you use it, it has either +60% or +100% mount speed, depending on which riding skill your character has learned.
Whether there will be more shop mounts that adjust to your skill will likely become clear with the release. However, it is likely that it won’t just be the bear.
