World of Warcraft frequently introduces special items with unique effects that are highly coveted by players. But with the upcoming Patch 10.1 Secrets of Neltharion, this is reaching new dimensions. You want to ensure that only you possess a very special cloak, and not your comrades.
Because the cloak makes you more powerful, while stealing stats from other players, thus diminishing their performance.
What exactly does the cloak do? The cloak is quite peculiar. Its equipping effect states:
“Whenever an ally nearby takes damage, there is a chance that the voice will call you. After you have heard the call 10 times, you succumb completely to its influence and steal 157 of the lowest secondary stat from four nearby allies. You gain the stolen amount plus 1576 of your highest secondary stat for 8 seconds.”
Or simpler put: The cloak steals stats like haste, critical strike rating, versatility, and mastery from your nearby teammates and temporarily gives them to your character.
Is there a downside for the wearer? Yes, there is. It is notable that the cloak has no stamina. Wearing it significantly reduces your health pool, and this could be the reason why you bite the virtual dust during healing-intensive moments, while your teammates do not. Therefore, it presents a risk to use this cloak from several standpoints.
Where can you get the cloak? The cloak “Voice of the Silent Star” is marked as “very rare” loot, so it will only drop in a small fraction of all kills, making it quite a rare sight. It can drop from Scale Commander Sarkareth – one of the later bosses of the raid, and should not be reachable for most guilds at the beginning.
One can already imagine the drama that ensues when a character ruins the “perfect logs” of the ambitious rogue because the cloak just stole a bit of haste during the critical phase.
