As part of the Summer Game Fest 2026, the developer studio Dead Astronauts showcased a trailer for their first game. What it is, you can find out here.
What kind of game is this? HAEX is a survival shooter that can be played solo or cooperatively with up to four players. You embark as scientists to explore an anomaly in the subarctic north and have gone missing. Now you must survive in an alien-infested wilderness.
The game world is procedurally generated but stored independently of your character. Your world retains your own storyline and therefore differs from the world of your friends, whom you can join at any time.
You can also influence the world yourself. During the game, you discover a mysterious cube that allows you to scan the environment and collect resources. Over time, you can further upgrade this cube to unlock alien abilities. In addition, you can plant alien seeds to shape the world around you, unlocking new areas or resources.

Who is behind the game? The studio Dead Astronauts was founded in 2024 by Tobias Nyman, Erik Morin, Robert Moschos, and Thomas Tedemalm, who, as former employees of Massive Entertainment, Ubisoft, and Epic Games, worked on The Division 1 and 2, Star Wars Outlaws, Far Cry 3, and XDefiant, among others.
In an initial seed funding round led by Behold Ventures, Dead Astronauts has already raised 4 million euros. For their first game HAEX, they are relying on Unreal Engine 5.
