The new game from the creators of Witcher 3 on Steam can only be played for 30 days. The new trailer reveals why this is the case.
What kind of game is this? The Blood of Dawnwalker is an upcoming action RPG, set to be released on September 3, 2026. The project is led by Rebel Wolves – a new game studio founded by former CD Projekt Red employees. The Game Director is Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who was previously responsible for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in this position.
In The Blood of Dawnwalker, you take on the role of the young Coen. Following a vampire bite, he has transformed into a so-called “Dawnwalker”: During daylight hours, he acts as a human, but after nightfall, he becomes a vampire. Consequently, the gameplay of the main character is expected to vary greatly depending on the time of day.
But time is running out for Coen, because after 30 days in the game, the story ends, and the new trailer reveals why this is the case.

A Terrible Fate
Why do you only have 30 days? The new story trailer reveals how Coen becomes the Dawnwalker. His family is attacked by vampires, and he wakes up alone the next day. But to save his loved ones from the clutches of the vampires, he must find allies and make plans.
Here it’s important to fully utilize the role-playing aspect, as NPCs can be persuaded to support you in your rescue mission, whether good or evil. However, you are not the central figure, but just a small cog in the world.
While your mission to save your own family is your top priority, other figures in the world are trying to advance their own goals. Therefore, you can also dedicate yourself to other matters like a rebellion to unlock new allies, gain helpful information, or access certain locations.
At the end of the 30 days, however, it will come to a reckoning, and it will show whether you have made the right plan for saving your family. However, it is important to note that time in the game may not flow linearly, so you won’t be forced to the end after just a few hours of gameplay.
Is it only about the story? As is common in a role-playing game, it’s not just about conversations and quests. You are free to roam the game world as a Dawnwalker (but also as a human, armed with a sword), uncover secrets independently, and eliminate human as well as supernatural foes.
The game world takes you to the Middle Ages and, based on the trailer, reminds us of Kingdom Come: Deliverance and its sequel, which should be a plus for fans of role-playing games. The Blood of Dawnwalker launches on September 3, 2026, on Steam and is available for €69.99 in the standard edition or for €79.99 in the Eclipse edition.
For fans of Witcher 3, The Blood of Dawnwalker could become a real hit, captivating players with a new setting, new abilities, and hopefully a story as strong as well.
