An airplane had to turn back due to a Bluetooth device. According to air traffic control, someone reportedly named their device with a specific four-letter word.
Anyone who has traveled by airplane knows the security checks before the flight takes off. This includes all persons having to switch their electronic devices to airplane mode and turn off their Bluetooth devices.
A Bluetooth device has now brought trouble to air travelers. A plane had to turn back an hour after takeoff due to a Bluetooth signal.
Bluetooth device causes airplane to return
What exactly happened? Specifically, it was United Flight 236 from Newark to Palma de Mallorca. Multiple users reported on Reddit, according to a post, that the crew repeatedly asked passengers to turn off their Bluetooth. According to one post, the crew issued a one-minute warning and stated that two devices were still active.
In the end, the plane turned back due to safety concerns, as it is said. According to air traffic control, which is cited by The Verge magazine, it was due to a Bluetooth speaker named “a specific four-letter word.” It explicitly states in the communication:
There is a security issue out there. Someone had a Bluetooth speaker and named it with a specific four-letter word. Therefore, they must search the entire plane, including the cargo hold, and the passengers must leave the aircraft.
It is not entirely sure what this refers to, but it is speculated that the four-letter word refers to the word “bomb.” In English, the word consists of 4 letters. To date, there has been no official confirmation from the air traffic control or the airline.

Such significant competition that more and more people are switching from airplanes to trains: In one country, the train is currently surpassing the airplane: Flying is no longer worthwhile on a distance of 1,300 km
