You can lose your purchased access in Aion 2 if you make an inconspicuous mistake

To Aion 2 early, many players purchased founder packs. However, you can easily lose this access if you make an annoying mistake.

How do players lose their access? On Reddit, many players report that they lost their access to Early Access, their characters, and the contents of the founder packs on Steam. The reason for this is a process in linking the accounts that is unfortunately not obvious.

If players start Aion 2 for the first time via Steam and have not previously linked an NCSoft account to their Steam account, NCSoft automatically creates a dummy account without further information, which gets linked.

If you then want to link an existing NCSoft account to your Steam account by unlinking the dummy account and adding your actual account, a problem arises: Because access through the founder packs is tied to the NCSoft account – not your Steam ID. The same problem arises when changing the login method to the phone number or linking with other accounts.

You effectively lose your access to the contents of the founder pack and thus also to Early Access.

Currently, there are increased reports of players encountering this problem, as they are prompted to link their Twitch account with an NCSoft account in the context of the Twitch Drops. If they want to do so, they are redirected to the NCSoft website, and from there, the misfortune often begins, as a new NCSoft dummy account is also created when logging in via Twitch.

Locked out by ignorance, but there is hope

Are there solutions? It actually depends a bit on how you lost access.

If you just changed the login method by switching to login with phone number, or caused linking chaos, you can usually resolve the links in the account settings. Then you just need to reconnect them with the respective correct accounts. This should resolve the problem chaotically, but reliably, and you can continue playing and claim your Twitch Drops.

Things look different if you want to link your Steam account to your actual NCSoft account afterwards. Because once separated, you can no longer access the dummy account. If you have an important existing NCSoft account that you must link to Steam, you should do it before starting Aion 2. If you have already linked your accounts, for instance, because you are already playing another NCSoft game via Steam, you have no danger at least from that.

If the mishap has already occurred and you can no longer access the dummy account with your founder pack, the only help is to contact the official NCSoft support and be patient.
