Artifact: The Hearthstone competitor from Valve
What is Artifact? Artifact: The Dota Card Game is a digital trading card game from Valve, the creators of Dota 2. It takes place in the “Dota 2” universe and is supposed to be highly focused on the competitive scene. The first tournament is set to have a prize pool of 1 million dollars in the first quarter of 2019.
The game will be released on October 28, 2018, on Steam. iOS and Android will also be supported.
What is special about Artifact?
In Artifact, you essentially play three card games at once. You have three boards instead of one, symbolizing the three lanes of classic MOBAs. All three must be played simultaneously. If you lose 2 lanes, you have lost the game.
Additionally, Artifact impresses by being a true trading card game, not a collectible card game like its competitor Hearthstone. This means you can sell or buy cards on the Steam market directly.
Who is Artifact for?
Players who no longer enjoy Hearthstone and are looking for a new card game will find joy in Artifact. At first glance, Artifact seems as complex as Magic: The Gathering – Arena, but thanks to Valve, it offers more opportunities to enter the eSports scene.
