The Update 12.30 was implemented on March 31 in Fortnite. The biggest changes in the patch were quickly discovered by players. However, there are 2 secret changes that could impact your aim, the way you aim and hit in Fortnite.
What did Update 12.30 bring? The fresh Update 12.30 brought a new umbrella weapon and a bounce pad that prevents fall damage on Tuesday.
These innovations were quickly discovered and eagerly tested by players. However, there are 2 changes that may not have been noticed by everyone.
Did Epic change the aim mechanics?
The player bhronosFN discovered 2 significant changes to the aim mechanics for “Mouse and Keyboard” players.
1. Recoil and Bloom have likely been adjusted
What’s different now? According to the player who found this change, the recoil and bloom on PC are now similar to those of controller players.
The pro Ninja explained why controllers on PC need a nerf as they would be too strong.
In a clip on Twitter, bhronosFN shows how he has much less or almost no recoil when shooting. This means he can fire his entire magazine without many shots going “off-target”:
Moreover, he feels that the “bloom” is no longer supposed to be so random. This means that the crosshair does not spread out as much during firing. Due to the bloom, shots often missed because the target was not properly aimed at.
2. Players no longer flinch
What’s different now? Another change he discovered is that players no longer flinch when they are hit. Previously, a player’s upper body would always shift to the side in such situations.
Now this does not happen anymore, providing advantages. If the player does not flinch, their aim is not disturbed and they can continue to aim at the opponent.
Will this finally end the discussion on aim assist?
The discussion between PC and controller players has been going on for a while now. The discussion topic: Aim assist.
Many believe that aim assist on controllers is too strong and controller players have an advantage because of it. This was evident when the first player won a tournament with a controller.
If aiming on PC has indeed received a buff and the legacy control with strong aim assist on controllers has been removed, the two platforms should now be more balanced.
It remains to be seen how these changes will impact the game and whether players are satisfied with the new status quo.
