To make the most of Pokémon GO and maximize your chance of catching Shinys, earning experience points, and receiving other bonuses, it is worth doing some things daily. We at MeinMMO explain what you should pay attention to and why it is worthwhile.
What kind of tips are we talking about? Anyone who plays Pokémon GO regularly knows that various interactions in the game can also provide additional bonuses. These can be extra experience points (XP) or candies, but also chances for stardust and Shinys.
Progress with different medals also plays a role, as you will need them on your way to level 50.
Therefore, you should definitely make use of some of them. We have summarized 12 things for you below that you should ideally do every day and explain what advantages this brings for you.
Click and catch Pokémon
Something that sounds obvious at first, you should definitely do daily: click and catch Pokémon. Because especially the first catch of the day is really worthwhile, and you should not miss out on the chance of a Shiny.
Why is the first catch of the day worthwhile? By catching the first Pokémon of the day, you will receive a small reward in the form of 600 stardust and 500 experience points. If you catch monsters daily in succession, you can improve this reward again on the 7th day. Thus, you will then receive 2,500 XP and 3,000 stardust for catching your first monster.
Why is it worth clicking on all monsters? But the catch bonus is not everything. It’s worth clicking on the Pokémon that spawn in the wild. Even if at first, you think that this one monster is useless to you, it might hide a shiny specimen with a bit of luck.
If you don’t click on them right from the start, in the worst case, you might miss out on a Shiny. The coveted monster looks different from the normal form and is usually recognizable at first sight.
Why is the daily spawn worthwhile? Pay attention to the daily personal spawn when opening the game for the first time daily. You can recognize it by the simple white circle around the Pokémon.
The monster from the daily spawn will only be shown to you on the map and comes from a special Pokémon pool. It does not depend on the spawns that might occur during a specific event.

Spin PokéStops and Gyms
PokéStops primarily serve you to collect items like balls, berries, or revival items, but also to receive research tasks. However, you should not only spin them when you need items but at least once a day.
Why is spinning at a PokéStop worthwhile? Just like with Pokémon, you also receive a special XP bonus and additional items from the first daily spin of PokéStops and Gyms. If you spin at one of the photo discs for seven consecutive days, you will receive 2,500 XP and additional items. Furthermore, you receive a free raid pass daily at the Gyms.
Additionally, spinning PokéStops and catching Pokémon for seven days in a row advances your progress towards the “Triathlete” medal. To get this to Platinum, you need to have completed the 7-day challenge 100 times.
Complete Field Research
If you spun at one of the PokéStops, you will receive a field research task along with the daily bonus. These are quests that revolve around various categories like catching, throwing, battling, or interacting with your buddy, and they bring you special rewards.
Why are field researches worthwhile? For one, you can definitely receive rewards from the field researches where you might encounter one or another interesting Pokémon. You have unlimited time to complete the quests, but you should complete at least one field research daily.
On each day that you have completed one of the researches, you will receive a stamp in the progress bar of your “Field” view. Once you have collected 7 stamps, you will receive a special research breakthrough, where you will also encounter a Pokémon. This changes monthly, which is why you will encounter Klikk in the June research breakthrough.
Additionally, redeeming field researches daily increases your progress towards the “Pokémon Ranger” medal, for which you need to complete 2,500 field researches to reach Platinum.

Play a raid daily
By spinning at Gyms, you receive a free raid pass every day. You should definitely use this to benefit from cool Pokémon encounters, items, stardust, and experience points.
Why is the free raid pass worthwhile? With the free raid pass, you can participate in any raid on-site. Especially level 5 raids are particularly worthwhile, as they often contain legendary Pokémon like Mewtwo. Additionally, after winning the battle, you will receive not only items and stardust but also 10,000 XP.
But you should not overlook the other raids either. For instance, with Mega Raids, you can secure Mega Energy for your Mega Pokémon or hope for various Shinys. Naturally, you will also receive corresponding rewards here after the battle.
Additionally, by regularly participating in raids, you increase your progress towards the corresponding Platinum medals, of which there are several:
- Trainer Hope: Defeat 150 different species of Pokémon in raids
- Champion: Win 2,000 raids
- Battle Legend: Win 2,000 Legendary raids
- Raid Expert: Land on the raid battle leaderboard 500 times
- Trainer Hopes: Win 2,000 raids with a friend
By the way: If you forget to redeem your raid pass, it will still be there for you the next day, and you can do two free raids then.
Play with your buddy and take snapshots
One thing that may sound very trivial at first, but is often forgotten from personal experience, is playing with your buddy. You should ideally do this every day as well. Don’t forget about walking together and taking snapshots, because it can really benefit you.
Why is playing with your buddy worthwhile? When you play with your buddy, take snapshots, feed them, or go on exploration adventures, you can earn corresponding hearts. These are used to increase your friendship level. So, if you interact daily, your friendship level will also increase faster.
Depending on how far along your status is, your buddy will assist you in daily gameplay. They bring you gifts and items, assist you in catching, and with the “Best Buddy” status even provide a CP boost. You can see your progress by the filled hearts in the upper part of your buddy view.
By the way, if you have 200 Best Buddies, you receive the Platinum medal “Best Buddy”.
Why are snapshots worthwhile? Additionally, it is worthwhile to regularly take snapshots of your buddy. With a bit of luck, Farbeagle or sometimes another event Pokémon may appear in the photo. During certain events, such as the Community Day with Kapuno, you even have the chance of up to 5 photobombs. For the Platinum medal “Cameraman”, you need 400 encounters of this type.
Why is walking together worthwhile? By walking together, you also receive the opportunity to find candies after a certain distance traveled. This is especially useful for monsters for which you are still missing candies.
Tip: If you’re on the road with your buddy for a long time, it’s worthwhile to feed them a Knursp. This doubles the hearts you earn during this time and allows for a candy to be found after half the distance.
Interactions with friends
Of course, you should also interact with your trainer friends daily. The best way to do this is by sending them gifts or opening their gifts. Currently, the limit is 30 gifts that you can open daily.
But you can also trigger an interaction in the game through joint raids or gym battles, battling each other, or trading Pokémon.
Why is interacting with friends worthwhile? Just like with the buddy, you can also increase your friendship level with your friends in the game. To do this, either you or your friend needs to perform one of the interactions mentioned above. For reaching a certain friendship level, you receive an XP bonus. This looks like this:

It is particularly rewarding if you have multiple level-ups at once, as you can coordinate with your friends to use a Lucky Egg and farm XP effectively. To counteract the lack of communication options in the game, trainers often label their buddy Pokémon with a time for leveling up, usually just as the event starts.
If you have achieved “Best Friends” status with 20 trainers, you will receive the Platinum medal “Stage Star”.
That’s why a high friendship level is worthwhile: Depending on your friendship level, you benefit from improved stardust costs when trading as well as certain attack bonuses when you fight together in raids or gyms. After the raid, you can also look forward to additional balls when catching the raid boss.
But there’s another advantage that you should not overlook. Once you reach “Best Friends” status, you have the chance of becoming Lucky Friends. This special status gives you a one-time guaranteed lucky trade.
This is particularly beneficial because lucky Pokémon are relatively strong, as they have at least an IV of 80%. Additionally, you need only half the stardust to level up these monsters. For this reason, it is advantageous to focus on rare or legendary monsters or Shinys for this type of trade.
Trading Pokémon
In Pokémon GO, you have the chance to perform up to 100 trading actions with your friends daily. You should definitely take advantage of this. Also, I trade nearly 100 Pokémon daily and explain why you should do the same.
Why is trading worthwhile? Trading brings you several advantages. For one, you receive a certain number of candies for each trading action. These depend on the distance in which you caught the monsters you want to trade.
During the Season of GO, you receive an additional candy with each trade, and an XL candy is guaranteed for all distances. Thus, by trading daily, you can gather quite a lot of candies.
On the other hand, trading gives you the opportunity for very strong monsters, as the values change during the trade. With some luck, you might even get a Pokémon with an IV of 100%. Lucky Pokémon can also be involved in trading.
Furthermore, the trading action also provides you with an interaction with your friend to level up your friendship.
And you also progress in the “Gentleman” medal and the “Pilot” medal through regular trading. To achieve these at Platinum, you need to trade 2,500 Pokémon or Pokémon over a distance of 10,000,000 km.
How does it differ from being Lucky Friends? Unlike the Lucky Friends status, it is random whether it becomes a lucky trade during the trading. The chance of a lucky trade is about 5.77%. These monsters also have at least an IV of 80% and you save stardust during Power-Up.
Look for free offers
Every day, there is a “daily box” available in the in-game shop of the game. This includes various items like balls, berries, or potions and costs you not a single coin. With a bit of luck, you might even have a better box, as is often shown in social networks:
But not only in the in-game shop can you discover free offers. Currently, due to the Pokémon GO Fest, a pink balloon is spawning in the game again. If you click on this, you will also receive special items for free, like balls, berries, or if you are lucky, even a Knursp. You can also claim stardust here.
Why is it worth checking for free offers? Although the available items are not always the most popular, you should still check the offers every day. After all, there might often be something unexpected inside that you would otherwise miss. And since the items cost nothing, you should take them right away.

Occupy, empty and interact with Gyms
To buy certain items in Pokémon GO, such as remote raid passes or expansions, you need coins. You earn these by occupying Gyms. For this reason, you should also interact with your Gyms and the monsters therein daily.
Why is occupying the Gym worthwhile? For every full 10 minutes that a Pokémon sits in a Gym, you earn 1 PokéCoin, the in-game currency. You can earn up to 50 coins daily, regardless of how long or in how many Gyms you sit.
Ideally, occupy Gyms near you daily to earn the coins. However, you can only receive these coins if you are knocked out of the Gym. It’s worthwhile to connect with players of the other trainer color and let them knock you out of the Gym to get your daily coins.

Why is attacking the Gym worthwhile? You should also regularly attack Gyms, as this allows you to secure the Platinum medal for “Fighter”. For this, you need to win 4,000 Gym battles.
Why is interacting with Pokémon in the Gym worthwhile? While your Pokémon is sitting in the Gym, you should take the opportunity to feed some excess berries to the monsters. This will not only replenish their hearts and increase their stamina, but you will also receive some stardust as a reward.
With a bit of luck, you might even get a candy out of it. It’s allowed for you to feed not just your own monsters, but also those of your team colleagues.
However, much more important is that by feeding, you work towards your Platinum medal “Berry Master”. To achieve this, you need to distribute 15,000 berries in Gyms.
Fight Team GO Rocket
You will often find members of Team GO Rocket at PokéStops in the game and in the black balloons. This is where you can encounter typical grunts or use a Rocket radar to find the Rocket bosses Arlo, Cliff, and Sierra.
Why is it worthwhile to fight the Rocket bosses? These fights against the three Rocket bosses are particularly worthwhile, as they can bring you, with a bit of luck, an encounter with a Shiny. In addition, for defeating the bosses, you receive a 12 km egg.
These contain Pokémon you might not encounter in the game otherwise, like Ganovil or Molunk. For this reason, you should secure the special eggs as frequently as possible.

Why should you fight the grunts? However, to be able to find the bosses, you need a Rocket radar. To obtain this, you must first defeat 6 grunts. They will each drop a mysterious component, which will eventually assemble into the radar.

Furthermore, there is also a special medal for Team Rocket. To receive the “Hero” medal in Platinum, you need to defeat 2,000 members of Team GO Rocket.
Why are Crypto Pokémon worthwhile? The Crypto Pokémon you receive after the battle can also be very beneficial. These monsters possess a 20% attack bonus, thus dealing significantly more damage. However, they take less damage in battle.
If you have examples that are poor as Crypto and have no use for them in raids or the GO Battle League, you can redeem them. If you do this with 200 Crypto Pokémon, you will secure the Platinum medal “Redeemer”.
Use the GO Battle League
If you enjoy battling against other Pokémon GO trainers, you should check the GO Battle League every day. You get 5 battle sets there daily, so a total of 25 battles.
Depending on the season segment, you can test your battling skills in the Super, Hyper, or Master League. Additionally, special cups are regularly held, which usually thematically relate to current events.
Why is the GO Battle League worthwhile? The GO Battle League offers various rewards for the battles you win. Besides stardust and various items, you also encounter different Pokémon. Depending on your rank, you might encounter the legendary Pokémon available in the level 5 raids at that time.
Furthermore, there are also various medals related to the GO Battle League that you should secure at Platinum:
- Super League Veteran: Win 1,000 trainer battles in the Super League
- Hyper League Veteran: Win 1,000 trainer battles in the Hyper League
- Master League Veteran: Win 1,000 trainer battles in the Master League
Evaluate and clean out Pokémon
One thing you should ideally do daily is evaluate and clean out your Pokémon. Although it is not a problem if you don’t do it daily, organizing your Pokémon storage can provide you with some advantages in daily gameplay.
Why is it worthwhile to clean out? Especially before larger events, it is advisable to have as much space in the Pokémon storage as possible. However, if you haven’t sorted for a while before, it can become a rather time-consuming task.
For this reason, you should take a few minutes every day to go through your Pokémon storage. Evaluate your new catches and see which monsters you no longer need.
Those who have the space in their bag and don’t need to dispose of the monsters immediately should ideally set aside a day for this and move the sorted-out specimens there. This way, you can swiftly send them off if you need space without having to sort first and can also take advantage of the occasional candy bonus.
This bonus occurs every few weeks during the Spotlight Hour or occasionally at certain events. You will receive double candies when you send your monsters.
This is how the tag feature works
To sort your Pokémon meaningfully, you can create specific tags. To do this, you go into your Pokémon storage and click on “Tags” at the top of the bar. Now the overview of already created tags will open. To create a new tag, simply click the “+” at the bottom left of the screen.
Here you give your desired name, for example “Send Off”. Then go back to your Pokémon storage and sort your monsters through. Best to make use of filters like “0*,1*,2*” to display weaker Pokémon, or “Old0” for Pokémon you caught less than 24 hours ago.
Now you can mark the Pokémon you want to sort by holding on to it for a long time and then assign it to the desired category via “Tag”. If you want to send the monsters from a tag to Professor Willow, you just need to open it in the “Tags” view, mark the desired monsters, and send them off.
