Path of Exile 2 follows in the footsteps of its predecessor and stands out as a complex game for gamers who enjoy in-depth mechanics. MeinMMO editor Benedict Grothaus spoke with Diablo expert Rob about the game.
Who is the expert?
- Rob is among the best Barbarian players in Diablo 4 worldwide and is particularly known for his expertise in theorycrafting around builds.
- His assessments are fundamentally important for our own tier list in Diablo 4.
- The expert regularly streams in English on Twitch, most recently Path of Exile 2. He quite enjoys the new action RPG.
This is what Rob says about Path of Exile 2: I talked with Rob about various topics regarding Path of Exile and Diablo 4 – including the entry into the new ARPG. Many players and experts agree here: the complexity of PoE 2 deters many newcomers.
Rob agrees with this, but also finds the way Path of Exile 2 handles the entry into these complicated systems exceptionally good:
You notice right away: This is a tough game. I personally find that really good. Many might not like it that much, but you know right away what you are getting into. It is a game that is significantly harder than Diablo and that from the very beginning.
The further you progress in the game, the easier it becomes, the expert explains. He himself started a new character, a Monk, after his Warrior became too slow for him after a few hours of gameplay.
Diablo takes a completely different approach with various difficulty levels, which is better for newcomers and casual players. However, he does not want to directly compare the games.
“There is a very clear separation”
Rob explains that Path of Exile and Diablo have a large overlap in their player base. However, there is also a very clear separation of players who are appealed by the respective games.
Path of Exile is good for “those who want to invest more time” and people like him who enjoy complex mechanics. Diablo, on the other hand, is better suited for those who do not have much time.
The constant dispute between the communities annoys him: “You can also play two games.” You don’t have to constantly compare and speak poorly about the other game. However, both communities do not give each other anything in terms of behavior.
