In World of Warcraft: Shadowlands you will find the golden chest of the Provost. To open it, you first need the corresponding gold key. You will receive it in exchange for a ripe Purian fruit. MeinMMO explains how all of this is connected and works.
What are these items? In Bastion, in the middle of the Hero’s Rest, you will find a “Golden Chest of the Provost.” This can be opened, but only after you have found the Provost’s gold key.
You will get this key from Elios, who stands right next to the chest. However, he won’t just hand it over; you need to complete some tasks for him.
Here’s how to prepare everything: In order for Elios to hand you the key, you first need to complete two quests for him:
- Fruit of the Gods
- Sweet Tribute
These will reward you with a silver key and a bit of loot from the corresponding silver chest. From then on, you will have the opportunity to also obtain the gold key.
Finding Ripe Purian Fruit
Where can I find the fruit? The ripe purians can be found scattered throughout Bastion. For the quest “Fruit of the Gods,” you have an overview on the map of which areas the fruits can be found.
Alternatively, you can approach the silver lockboxes that you also find at various locations in Bastion. You will then receive the buff “Increased Sense of Smell.” This shows you where the fruits are located near you. We have listed some of the boxes here along with coordinates:
- 43 / 15 near the Eternal Forge
- 50 / 44 under the Hero’s Rest
- 48 / 30 north of the Hero’s Rest
- 63 / 29 near the Elysian Hold
- 45 / 83 to the south
You can view coordinates with the right addons. The boxes themselves are also marked on the map with a box symbol.
Can I farm the fruits? Only to a limited extent. A Purian spoils after five days and can be stacked up to a maximum of 20 pieces. So you can collect some of them, but you cannot keep them in stock.
Open the Golden Chest of the Provost with the Gold Key
How do I open the chest? If you have completed the quests and found a Purian fruit, you need to bring it to the “Provost of the Day.” Elios will tell you who this is next to his golden chest.
You can talk to Elios to get a marker on your map. However, it only lasts for a few minutes. But you can always talk to him again and ask. The user Celesta on wowhead has already listed the positions of all the Provosts:

The corresponding Provost will then hand you the Provost’s gold key. With this, you can return to the Hero’s Rest and open the chest there. Inside you will find gold, some anima, and vendor items.
If you receive strange items while questing, they can lead you to really great loot. Like the unusually large mushroom in the Ardenweald, with which you can get a fancy frog mount.
