The drama surrounding the private servers in WoW seems to be over. At least for now, both projects exist separately.
In recent weeks, there has been a major dispute in the scene surrounding the private Classic servers of World of Warcraft. The largest Classic server, Elysium, experienced an incident: Donation funds were misappropriated, and the project management was involved in gold trading.
Some members of Elysium decided to pull the plug and terminate the project. They took many player data with them. They founded a new project called “Light’s Hope“, where everything was supposed to be better.
The remaining members of Elysium recovered from this “attack” relatively quickly and reactivated the servers after a few days. The Elysium servers were reactivated, and after a long apology, they want to do better this time and be more transparent.

Both Elysium and Light’s Hope now continue as independent projects.
If you look into the respective forums of both private servers, not all players are happy about it. Many criticize that the large community has now been divided, thereby weakening the overall stance of Classic servers.
On both sides, there are repeated accusations that the other side has disappointed. We don’t even need to start with the typical “You’re all doomed” posts.
For those who don’t want all this drama, you can of course play WoW in its current version. You can enjoy complaining about artifact power and RNG with legendaries, but at least not about misappropriated donation funds.
