Which race fits particularly well with your class from WoW: Forever? MeinMMO answers this difficult question for Alliance and Horde, but also if you particularly focus on PvE or PvP.
What is this article about? We tell you which race fits particularly well with your class. We differentiate between Alliance and Horde, but also between PvE and PvP focus. First, you can expect a quick overview. After that, we will go into detail about all racial abilities. You can jump directly to the sections that interest you through our table of contents:
But first a short note: In the best case, you will spend a lot of time with your character. The advantages from the racial abilities are also very small. If you are not an absolute min-maxer who wants to get the maximum out of your alter ego, you should choose the race for aesthetic reasons.

The racial abilities of all races of the Alliance in WoW: Forever
The racial abilities of Humans in WoW: Forever
- Will to Survive (Active): Immediately removes all stun effects.
- Perception (Active): Drastically increases stealth detection for 20 seconds.
- Ruthless (Passive): Increases the critical hit chance of all your spells and attacks by 2 percent.
- The Human Spirit (Passive): Increases willpower by 5%.
More critical hit chance for spells and attacks is a nice bonus in every situation. The increase in willpower especially helps spell casters who can take more advantage of this value through talents in fights. Survival Will and Vigilance are worth their weight in gold in PvP.
The racial abilities of Dwarves in WoW: Forever
- Stoneform (Active): Grants immunity to bleed, poison, and disease effects and reduces any physical damage taken for 8 seconds.
- Find Treasure (Active): Detects nearby treasure chests on the minimap.
- Earth Fury (Passive): Increases critical strike damage and your critical heals by 2%.
- Big Game Hunter (Passive): Increases damage dealt to wild animals by 5%.
Stoneform is a strong bonus for all tanks and in PvP. The stronger crits from Wrath of the Earth are nice, but one must first achieve sufficiently high crit chances. Great Beast Hunter is a very situational bonus.
The racial abilities of Night Elves in WoW: Forever
- Shadowmeld (Active): Allows merging with the shadows (stealth while standing still).
- Elune’s Light (Active): Increases the critical hit chance of all spells and attacks by 10% for 15 seconds.
- Quickness (Passive): Increases the chance to dodge by 1% and movement speed by 2%. Improved stealth mode for Rogues and Druids.
- Wisp Spirit (Passive): Increases movement speed as a ghost in death state by 75%.
Shadow Mimic can lead to exciting moments in PvP. Swiftness helps especially tanks and rogues. Elune’s Light provides burst damage or healing for 15 seconds at the press of a button, even for the hunters’ companions.
The racial abilities of Gnomes in WoW: Forever
- Escape Artist (Active): Frees from slowing and immobilization effects and grants short immunity against them.
- Eureka! (Active): Your damage or healing abilities, which are not periodic effects, cost 10% less mana and deal 10% more damage or healing.
- Expansive Mindt (Passive): Increases maximum mana, rage, or energy by 5%.
- Engineering Specialization (Passive): Your gnomish inventive spirit reduces the failure rate of engineering devices when you use them by 20%.
Unfettered Artist and Technologist can make the difference in PvP between victory and defeat. Eureka! provides efficient healing and DPS phases and even enhances the Power Word: Shield from priests. Awake Spirit is especially interesting for spellcasters with mana issues.
The racial abilities of Skyborne in WoW: Forever
- Walk on Air (Active): Allows you to glide gently through the air for 10 seconds.
- Read Ley Line (Active): Activates a ley line and increases health and mana regeneration by 100%.
- Wind Blessed (Passive): Permanently increases melee, ranged, and spell casting speed by 3%.
- Elemental Insight (Passive): Increases damage to Elementals by 5%.
While the extra damage against Elementals is only situational, Wind Blessed is a strong bonus for those relying on spells with a long cast time or aiming for a certain minimum level of speed.

The racial abilities of Orcs in WoW: Forever
- Blood Fury (Active): Increases attack and spell power by 10% for 15 seconds.
- Shatter Curse (Active): Immediately removes all omens and curses and reduces magic damage taken by 5% for 8 seconds.
- Savage (Passive): Increases the critical hit chance of all your spells and abilities by 1%.
- Hardiness (Passive): Reduces the duration of all stun effects cast on the character by 20%.
The combination of Boiling Blood and Wild makes Orcs a strong choice in all situations. The increased attack power also benefits hunters’ pets and rogues’ poisons. Sturdiness and Break Curse are especially interesting for PvP.
The racial abilities of Undead in WoW: Forever
- Will of the Forsaken (Active): Removes charm, fear, and sleep effects.
- Cannibalize (Active): Consumes a corpse to regenerate a part of maximum health and mana over time.
- Touch of the Grave (Passive): Attacks and spells have a 30% chance to drain life equal to up to 5% of your maximum health from your target.
- Underwater Breathing (Passive): Extends breath underwater by 300%.
Undead are especially a strong choice for PvP due to Will of the Forsaken. Touch of the Grave is unfortunately very unreliable and has little practical effect.
The racial abilities of Tauren in WoW: Forever
- War Stomp (Active): Stuns up to five nearby enemies for 2 seconds.
- Cultivation (Active): Cultivates a herb nearby to pull a duplicate that you can harvest without skills in herbalism. Each herb can only be cultivated once.
- Plainsrunning (Passive): Gradually increases movement speed the longer you move without interruption. Additionally, your mount speed is increased by 3%.
- Endurance (Passive): Increases total health by 5% and your critical strike damage and critical healing by 2% each.
Thanks to Stamina and War Thunder, Tauren make especially strong tanks. Tauren also benefit from the bonuses in PvP. However, they face strong competition from Orcs.
The racial abilities of Trolls in WoW: Forever
- Berserking (Active): Increases attack and spell speed by 10% for 10 seconds.
- Rapid Regeneration (Active): Regenerates 50% of maximum health over a short period.
- Beast Slaying (Passive): Increases damage against beasts by 5%.
- Regeneration (Passive): Increases overall health regeneration by 20%; 20% of recovery also continues during combat.
The short-term speed boost from Berserker leads to more DPS, healing, or threat in critical situations. The damage bonus against beasts is very situational. The increased health regeneration is rarely noticeably impactful.
The racial abilities of Skyborne in WoW: Forever
- Walk on Air (Active): Allows you to glide gently through the air for 10 seconds.
- Skysight (Active): Grants an elemental blessing that increases movement speed by 10%.
- Wind Blessed (Passive): Permanently increases melee, ranged, and spell casting speed by 3%.
- Elemental Insight (Passive): Increases damage against Elementals by 5%.
Here, too, especially the permanent speed boost is crucial and particularly interesting for all those relying on spells with a long cast time or aiming for a certain minimum level of speed.
