As strong as the demon-focused Warlock was in PvP in classic WoW, he was rarely seen in dungeons and raids. This changes with Forever.
When leveling and in PvP situations in the open world, there has hardly been a stronger class than the Demonology Warlock in classic WoW. This remains the case in Forever, as the community duel event has impressively demonstrated recently. In PvE, however, the durable warlock struggled with low damage output and demons that played virtually no offensive role.
Additionally, there was a fundamental challenge in raid situations, being limited to a certain number of debuffs on a single enemy. Warlocks had to actively maintain their assigned curse but could hardly activate their damage-over-time effects. Other debuffs were simply more important.
In Forever, all of this is different, as Blizzard opens up the buff and debuff limits and invests significant effort into the Demonology tree to better highlight the identity of the specialization. Your demons mutate into powerful companions that, thanks to talents like “Demonic Brand” and improved scaling, deal significant damage.
Moreover, Warlocks can sacrifice a demon for a strong buff through “Demonic Pact,” only to summon another companion and utilize its benefits in combat. According to the first DPS simulations on sites like mythicsim.com, this is enough for a strong placement in the A-Tier, significantly ahead of the other Warlock specializations.
