What are professions in WoW Forever and what are they used for?
Professions in World of Warcraft: Forever are gatherers and manufacturers. Those who level the jobs Mining, Herbalism, or Skinning gather resources such as ores, plants, or leather. These can then be processed into in-game items by blacksmiths, alchemists, or jewelers. You can then use or sell these items.
You can learn a maximum of two professions per character. It doesn’t matter whether you level two gathering or two crafting professions or one of each. However, it makes sense to choose complementary gathering and crafting professions.
Secondary professions do not count towards this, and you can level them freely as you wish.
If you are coming from Final Fantasy XIV: The professions in WoW are not as refined as the jobs from Eorzea. There is no distinction between combat and crafting classes. You can find an overview of the classes in WoW here.
All Gathering Professions
With these professions you collect resources that can then be processed by someone with a corresponding crafting profession:
- Mining
- Herbalism
- Skinning
All Crafting Professions (Trade Professions)
With the crafting professions, the resources gathered by the gathering professions are further processed:
- Blacksmithing
- Tailoring
- Leatherworking
- Alchemy
- Engineering
- Enchanting
All Secondary Professions
The secondary professions can be learned independently of the gathering and crafting professions:
- Cooking
- Fishing
- First Aid
