In World of Warcraft an ancient joke becomes reality – and not only is it funny, but it could actually be quite useful for some.
Some jokes in World of Warcraft have persisted for decades. Hotkey fans still mock “Button Clickers” or “Keyboard Turners” – players who click their abilities with the mouse or control their character slowly and imprecisely with the arrow keys.
A popular joke was always to say that one should “just play with chat commands to make it even worse.”
This very joke has now become true thanks to an addon.
What kind of addon is this? The addon “Command Palette” has been available on addon platforms like Curse for a few hours and adds a new window to World of Warcraft. By pressing a key, you can open a large search window and simply type in terms to select the corresponding action or spell from all possible functions. How this looks in action is shown by Reddit user “C_hase” with a few simple examples:
Does it have any use? Aside from fulfilling the joke, this addon also has a practical benefit. Being able to find all usable commands, like spells, toys, pets, mounts, or emotes bundled in a search window should be a relief for some. Even though WoW now has its own search windows in most categories, you often have to click through two to three menus to get there, which can take time.
Therefore, the addon is especially suited for things that you use occasionally, but not often enough to earn their own space in hotkeys.
And of course, you can finally fulfill the joke of playing WoW with chat commands. With a bit of practice, that could even be quite feasible and may help some players with physical limitations.
What do you think of it?
