World of Tanks is hosting an 8-bit retro event at the end of the month. In the Winter Showdown, players can engage in intense 10v10 battles in 8-bit vehicles.
It’s a crazy world. On one side, everything is supposed to look photo-realistic, every detail in HD on 4K monitors, and we would prefer to sit directly in a tank via Occoulus Rift or Project Morpheus, shouting bold commands like Brad Pitt that makes our comrades drop their cigarettes from their surround system. But then we see 8-bit pixel graphics and think: “Oh, how iconic and retro.”
Wargaming is now taking the pixel path for its tank MMO “World of Tanks”. Starting January 26, it’s going retro in the “Winter Showdown”. There are three tanks specially made for the event, a battlefield, platoons, medals to earn, and a trailer to check it out:
