The tech priests of Owlcat apparently did not adhere to the correct protocols. Since Rogue Trader, the role-playing game based on Warhammer 40,000, launched on Nintendo Switch 2 in December 2025, it has faced issues. Now the studio is apologizing.
Rogue Trader experienced performance issues, bugs, and even crashes on Switch 2 for half a year, rendering the RPG unplayable. Since the poor launch, the developers – pardon me, the honorable priests of Mars – have been working on fixes.
Now it seems they have figured out which machine spirits are responsible for the problems and have appeased them with the appropriate rites. Owlcat has decided to atone and is giving all players on Switch 2 all DLCs:
- The Deluxe Pack contains some items and cosmetics.
- Void Shadows revamps the interior of the ship and introduces the death cult assassin Kibellah as a new companion.
- With Lex Imperialis, Rogue Trader is expanded by an Arbitrator and a cyberdog companion, of course with its own missions and story.
- The Infinite Museion is the latest DLC featuring a Genetor Extremis as a companion and… somber scenes even by Warhammer standards. This is currently not available on Switch 2 and will be provided later.
Each of the DLCs costs 17.50 Euros individually, with the Deluxe Pack an additional 15 Euros – so a total of 60 Euros worth of content is given away. The story DLCs encompass around 10-15 hours of additional content each. Players are absolutely thrilled with the initiative.
“Abelard, show Owlcat my appreciation”
Owlcat has posted an update on Reddit and provided a glimpse into the improvements. In over 100 comments, users praise the studio.
While some express disbelief that developers would voluntarily present such a gift as an “atonement” at this time, others want to thank them directly for this gesture:
“Ironically, I will probably buy the DLCs now. I actually wanted to dive deeper into the game first […]. But this is such a consumer-friendly move that I want to reward them for it.
It’s a bit annoying that everything is so cluttered that it’s shocking when you find a decent company that doesn’t act sociopathically.”

Meanwhile, Owlcat is already working on the first DLC in the second season pass: Processional of the Damned, which is set to release between July and September and takes you to a ship graveyard.
While we don’t know exactly how Owlcat managed to anger the machine spirits of Switch 2, we at least have a faint idea that perhaps someone on the team might bear the mark of heresy… In Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader you can have an alien waifu – We spoke with the responsible parties
