With the second DLC “Lord of Hatred”, a feature is introduced in Diablo 4 where you can relax from demon hunting and farm items at ease. A new video now provides insights for the first time.
What is this feature? It is about fishing, which finds its way to Sanctuary with Lord of Hatred. Blizzard itself describes the feature in the blog post as follows: “And when you feel like taking a break, you can relax from demon hunting while fishing in the waters of Sanctuary.”
The fishing functions as a mini-game that you start simply through the emote wheel. Your hero then casts the line, and you apparently need to press a button at the right moment to reel in the catch.
The video from IGN shows the character pulling various items out of the water – even a “Unique Fish” seems to be included. You can even fish in glowing lava:
The transition from bloody monster-slaying to peaceful fishing seems almost surreal, but it creates an interesting contrast to the rest of the gameplay and additionally provides you with fresh loot.
What exactly you will do with the fish later is still open. In Diablo Immortal, this system has existed since 2023. There, you exchange your catch for rewards through a logbook.
What else does the video show? The 21-minute gameplay video takes you into the new region Skovos. A Warlock is seen fighting through new hordes of monsters and capturing two strongholds. At minute 3:35, the video also provides a look at the map of Skovos including all waypoints and strongholds.
In addition, you get a detailed impression of the new class: the Warlock. This dark mage subdues demons to his will and, as the only class, uses two resources simultaneously – Wrath and Domination. In the video, you can see this with the split resource ball in pink and purple.
You can find all info about the Warlock in our overview. The trailer also gives you a brief impression of the new class in Diablo 4:
The YouTube video from IGN thus gives you an insight into the new class and the open world of the new area Skovos including strongholds. If you instead want to dive into the story and see the fight against the first boss of the campaign, you should check this out: Diablo 4 shows in 12 minutes of gameplay for the first time the new area of Lord of Hatred and the first story boss.
