In Pokémon GO you can catch some rare monsters. For a trainer, such a catch represented an answer he had been waiting for.
Catching rare monsters in Pokémon GO represents one of the biggest motivations for many trainers in the game. Particularly sought after are monsters that are both Shiny and have perfect IV values, the so-called Shundos (a mix of “Shiny” and “Hundo”).
A trainer reports on Reddit that he caught such an specimen. And at a time when this catch held a very special significance for him.
“Divine Intervention”
What decision is it about? The trainer reports in his post on Reddit, which has received over 6,800 upvotes, that his wife is in the process of changing employers. For the trainer, this means a certain adjustment.
Since he drives her to work and the new workplace is opposite to his university, he has to plan an additional 20 minutes every morning. At the same time, he sees the new employer for his wife as a great opportunity.
So he is conflicted about the new job.
What does this have to do with Pokémon GO? While his wife was at the new employer signing the new contract, the trainer was waiting in the car in the parking lot. During this time, he opened Pokémon GO – and a Shiny Magikarp appeared.
After catching it, he checked the IV values of the monster and saw that the Magikarp was a 100%-IV specimen. So he had not only caught a Shiny, but a Shundo.
What does the trainer say about it? The trainer interprets this catch as a sign that his wife’s decision is the right one. He argues that the chances of obtaining a Shundo Magikarp outside of events, research tasks, or raids are very low.
He writes: “I don’t know what kind of sign this is, but if the universe wanted to grab my attention, it’s very specific to send me a golden Magikarp with perfect IVs. Anyway, I guess I’ll have to get used to the longer commute and trust the course of things. If this eventually turns into a Shundo Gyarados, I will officially call it divine intervention.”
