On Friday, the PvP shooter Wardogs will launch a closed beta on Steam. If you don’t enjoy it, the developers encourage you to request a refund.
What game is it about? Wardogs describes itself as an “All out Warfare” first-person shooter that offers large-scale battles with destructible buildings in a modern, realistic setting.
- In total, up to 100 players, divided into three teams, will fight for an area on a map. This includes infantry, ground vehicles like tanks, and helicopters.
- The game mechanics are strongly inspired by the “King of the Hill” matches in ARMA 3.
- However, the big feature of Wardogs is the cash system, which rewards you with in-game money for performing certain actions like kills, revives, and similar tasks.
- With this money, you buy your equipment to fill roles like Medic or Engineer. However, if you fall in battle, you will lose your carried equipment.
As the developers announced on August 11, Wardogs will be released in Early Access on Steam on September 10, 2026, for €39.99. At the same time, pre-orders for the shooter began, making it a top seller on Steam. In addition, the studio announced that over 1 million players have added the game to their wishlists on Steam.
Developers recommend: Try it out and return if you are disappointed
Wardogs will be playable in a closed beta from August 21 to August 23. You are guaranteed to participate in this beta and get an impression of the game if you pre-order the game for €39.99 on Steam before the beta.
This is what the developers say about the beta: The developers of the shooter openly state in a video on YouTube that you can cancel your pre-order and request a refund if the game in the beta does not meet your expectations:
„Alternatively, you can pre-order the game, participate in the beta, and if the performance does not meet your expectations or the game does not live up to the high hype, simply request a refund. We won’t hold it against you.“
This is what Valve says: Steam has its own guidelines regarding refunds and pre-order cancellations. It states:
„According to Steam’s refund policy, you can request a refund at any time before the release of a pre-ordered game.“ – Source: Steam
Outside the pre-order phase, Steam’s usual refund conditions still apply. This means: You can only refund games that were purchased no more than 14 days ago and in which you have played a maximum of 2 hours.
