Are you desperately at the Temple of Carnage in Throne and Liberty and don’t understand the mechanics of Rex Chimärus? MeinMMO has the best strategy for you to defeat the level 50 co-op dungeon boss.
How to defeat Rex Chimärus? The level 50 co-op dungeon boss Rex Chimärus from the Temple of Carnage has almost the same mechanics as his somewhat weaker brother King Chimärus, which you can find in the level 30 co-op dungeon.
If you have already defeated the level 30 boss, the fight with Rex Chimärus should at least seem familiar to you. However, Rex Chimärus is significantly stronger. He lunges at players, spits poison and fire, has powerful area attacks, and can only be handled with good communication and organization. MeinMMO has the best strategies for all his mechanics.
How much pay-to-win is actually in Throne and Liberty?
Rex Chimärus Attack Patterns
The level 50 boss Rex Chimärus follows a specific pattern:
Normal attacks > Acid puddles > Normal attacks > Paralytic poison > Acid puddles > Fireballs > Area attack (special mechanic).
We explain all the mechanics of Rex Chimärus to you. Especially the area attack is an extremely powerful attack that requires a lot of coordination and is hardly manageable without communication. It is essential to execute this mechanic correctly; otherwise, your team is finished.
Normal Attack
The normal attacks can easily be absorbed by the tank in the team. He should be able to take the swipe attacks from Rex Chimärus without taking significant damage.
Acid Puddles
Rex Chimärus shoots acid from his tail at the targets that are farthest away from him. Then, an acid puddle forms under these players. You can avoid it by moving out of the puddle, making it a simple task.
Paralytic Poison
One of the players will be marked with a glowing green pillar, and then Rex Chimärus spits poison at him, which paralyzes him for a while. The marked target should move as far away from the boss and his teammates as possible, as this attack cannot be dodged, because fireballs will follow next.
Fireballs
Rex Chimärus then spits three exploding fireballs at the player who was paralyzed. The best way to counter this mechanic is for the tank to position himself between the paralyzed player and Rex Chimärus. This way, the fireballs hit the tank instead of the victim. The healers should quickly replenish the tank’s health.
Since the fireballs explode, you should keep your distance from the marked person and the tank; otherwise, you will also suffer significant damage. But be careful of the poison that Rex Chimärus sprays to the right side of the arena with his tail while spitting fireballs.
Area Attack (Special Mechanic)
As if that wasn’t enough, Rex Chimärus has a special mechanic that can completely wipe out your team. To prevent this, you must pull the lever in the arena to cool the boss with water; otherwise, a powerful AoE fire attack will follow.
There are four pillars in the arena that are connected by chains to a kind of water tank that hovers in the center of the arena. Ideally, there should be a ranged DPS from the group at each pillar. This will be important shortly.
As soon as the boss charges his AoE fire attack, blue floating rocks appear in the air. At least one of the players must swing up using the rocks to reach the water tank. There is a lever there that should be quickly pulled.
After that, the chains of the four pillars in the arena activate. The four players at each of the pillars must then interact with the chains so that the boss gets doused with water. This prevents the dangerous AoE fire attack from Rex Chimärus. If you take too long, your group will be wiped out.
If you master the mechanic, nothing will stand in the way of your victory. If you have any other problems with other bosses or general questions about Throne and Liberty, check out our overview.
