Do you think you have completed Clair Obscur: Expedition 33? There is a weapon that you most likely overlooked.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has now been released for over a year, and most of the puzzles and secrets have been unraveled. Still, there are a handful of rewards in the game that have only been earned and collected by a small fraction of the community. The highlight among them is a weapon that is so typical for the game that you really can’t survive without it.
Where does the data come from? The data comes from the Game-Checklist site, which analyzed more than 4,000 accounts that have precisely tracked their progress. Although the list is not entirely representative of all “normal players”, it does provide a good indication of which items are particularly rare.
A baguette that takes out your own character
Which item is the rarest? The rarest item that has been in the game since the beginning has only been obtained by 6% of accounts. It is the weapon “Baguette,” and the name says it all. Gustave and Verso can go into battle with a French baguette to beat the Chroma out of their enemies – but other characters can also acquire the baguette.
How do you get the Baguette weapon? To obtain the Baguette weapon, you must act against your own intuition and make a special decision right at the start of the game. At the farewell party in Lumiere, you can earn 3 badges and exchange them for rewards with 3 merchants.
However, anyone wanting the Baguette weapon must at least keep one of the badges – and do so for the entire duration of the game. Only upon restarting the game, i.e., in a “New Game+”, can you then obtain the weapon.
After you have encountered Sophie, you can go over to the bakery and pick up the baguette from the table to use it as a weapon in the future. Switch characters to obtain multiple ones until your badges from the festival are used up.
What makes the weapon special? In addition to the appearance of this rather unusual weapon, the effects are also nice. The weapon is excellent for triggering various Pictos that take effect upon your character’s death.
- Level 4: The character kills themselves at the start of the battle (“Auto Death”).
- Level 10: Upon the first death in battle, the character is revived with 100% health (“Second Chance”).
- Level 20: The character may act first at the beginning of the battle (“First Strike”).
Have you obtained the Baguette weapon? Or did you not even make it to New Game+?
Are there even rarer items? Yes. The data indicates that there are a whole host of rewards that have been obtained by even fewer players. However, these primarily consist of items that have come into play through free updates such as the “Thank You” update.
This includes items such as the anniversary hairstyle for Gustave, which has only been collected by 2.5% of accounts so far. However, since this can only be obtained since the update in April and only during Act 1 of the game, the comparison is not entirely fair.
The developers of Clair Obscur have since turned to their next project. They do not want to reveal exactly what they are working on yet, but they have already made it clear, that some may not like it.
