The new PS5 Update 23.01-07.00.00 brings plenty of new features and useful functions. There is now debate in the community about a new feature. But how much “spoiler” is really behind it?
Sony has released a major update for the PS5. It finally includes full support for Discord on the PS5. How you can set up Discord on the PS5, you can read here on MeinMMO.
In addition, the update has brought a few more improvements and features. But especially a new “function” is being discussed: When you highlight a game in your library with the controller, the game progress is displayed as a percentage.
Some believe that this is already a form of spoiler and that there should be an option to hide the display. After all, you would always know how far you are in your game.
Is the thrill of playing not knowing how far you are?
What does the criticism look like? The criticism is quite understandable for some on reddit . Some users do not want the PS5 to unsolicitedly inform them that the game is almost completed. That would already be a form of spoiler if the console provided such important information. This would be particularly disturbing for story-driven games.
What do others say in response? On the other hand, some respond that such a “function” already exists internally in some games. Here, you are rewarded for a certain amount of game progress, and that is no spoiler. And the online magazine Gamerant also finds the spoiler accusation strange: Because then the time display on a movie would also be a spoiler. After all, you immediately know how many hours you need to watch before you see the credits.
What do you think? Do you find the new “feature” not so bad, or does it bother you as well when you see your game completion displayed as a percentage? Share your thoughts in the comments and discuss with others.
