It has been just over 8 years since Bethesda officially announced The Elder Scrolls VI. The release? Still seems years away. On the other hand, the new Xbox head wants to change that.
What is the new Xbox head planning? According to a report from The Information (via Reuters), Asha Sharma wants to use the current strategic shift at Team Xbox to offer more financial support to Microsoft’s key first-party studios. This is expected to affect not only the Bethesda Game Studios but also the team behind Halo.
The idea behind the plan: By providing additional support to shorten development cycles, new entries in key franchises like Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and Halo will reach players in shorter timeframes.
Considering the long development phases at Bethesda, this makes sense in multiple ways. From Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion to Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, it took 5 years. Fans have been waiting for a new single-player Elder Scrolls for 15 years now. The official announcement of part VI also took place 8 years ago. In the meantime, they still had to finish that other game named Starfield …
At the current pace, it may take until 2040 until the next Fallout …
