Finally, a skin is available in the Item Shop of Fortnite that caused some speculation. Players had to wait a long time for it, but now it’s here and brings challenges with it.
What kind of skin is this? This outfit is the Aurum skin, which came to the Item Shop today on March 25, 2020, at 2:00 PM. It is a golden skeleton wearing a royal crown.
The skin itself costs 2,000 V-Bucks. Additionally, there’s a golden skeleton dragon as a glider available for purchase for 1,500 V-Bucks.

Additionally, the skin has another style variant where the golden color doesn’t shimmer as much.
What challenges are available? If you purchased the Aurum skin, you’ll automatically unlock 4 tasks that you can complete.
By completing these missions, you also unlock a weapon wrap, a pickaxe, and 100,000 XP each.
These are the tasks you must complete:
- Assist teammates with eliminations (0/10)
- Play a round with a friend (0/10)
- Deal damage to opponents (0/1,000)
- Collect medals (0/40)
These are the two rewards you unlock:
There was a lot of speculation about this skin
What makes this skin so mysterious? The outfit has been in the Fortnite data for a while and was first leaked by dataminers on January 15, 2020.
Since the skin didn’t appear in the shop for a long time, it caused some speculation and theories.
This was the first assumption: At the end of Season 1, items on the Fortnite map were turned to gold and it was thought that the Gold King was behind it. It was speculated that the Aurum skin would play a role in the end event of Season 1.
This was the second theory: When this theory didn’t come true, players thought Aurum would be the Battle Pass skin from Season 2 that you could unlock at level 100.
As the theme of gold was strongly represented in the teasers for the new Season 2, this skin fit perfectly into the scene.
When Season 2 started, it quickly became clear that Aurum was not part of the Battle Pass skins from Season 2. The Level 100 skin was not the golden skeleton, but Midas.
The community had another assumption: The last theory flared up a few days before its arrival in the Item Shop. Dataminers had found its challenges and saw that you could unlock a few items with it.
Players quickly realized: This skin must be the secret skin of this season! Thematically, it perfectly fit into the story.
However, Deadpool is actually the secret skin of Season 2. In the Battle Pass trailer, you could see Deadpool, and he said he would be the secret skin of this season.
