In the fantasy MMO Lord of the Rings Online (LotRO), shortly before Christmas, players were banned for becoming stronger than intended through an exploit.
In Lord of the Rings Online, on December 22, shortly before Christmas, a message was released stating that players had been banned for willfully using an exploit to become significantly stronger in the game world.
The exploit was of such a nature that it could not be accidentally exploited. Turbine utilized logs and methods to determine who was exploiting, and banned accordingly.
At the moment, they are working on a fix.
While Turbine remains silent about the exact nature of the exploit, some fans are suggesting that it is likely an exploit in PvM in the Ettenmoors. The “Freeps,” the free peoples, were able to deal significantly more damage than intended because of it.
