Fans of D&D and Critical Role have reason to rejoice: Next week, Season 4 of the series The Legend of Vox Machina will premiere, continuing the story of the hero group. It is set to get dark.
Fans of the animated series The Legend of Vox Machina had to show some patience since Season 3. It premiered in October 2024, nearly two years ago.
On June 3, 2026, the wait will finally be over and Season 4 will start. Everything you need to know about the release and timings you will find out in a dedicated article on MeinMMO.
The continuation is set to take place about a year after the events of the last season and carry them forward. The executive producer of the series has already hinted that you should better have tissues ready.
A new member and a new threat
What is Season 4 about? Don’t worry, we won’t reveal any details about the plot or possible twists that fans of the Critical Role campaign might already know.
Just this much: After the victory of the hero group against the Chroma Conclave, Percy was finally able to free himself from the demon Orthax at the end of Season 3. The characters have split up and must come back together in the face of a new threat.
Joining the heroes in Season 4 is a new member: Taryon Darrington, a human Artificer. He may not have great abilities, but he uses his money to buy powerful gemstones that can cast spells.
Executive producer Sam Riegel from Critical Role hints in an interview with Polygon that Taryon will have to deal with his wealth and the associated bragging. Riegel generally emphasizes that the new season will be even darker and will have enemies that the heroes are not prepared for.
He gives the audience a warning: “No matter how the season goes, I guarantee you there will be sad moments. So keep the tissues ready and prepare for a wild ride.”
What comes after Season 4? The new season will run in twelve episodes until June 24, 2026. Afterwards, a final fifth season is expected to follow. However, there is currently no date for it.
