As soon as the GeForce RTX 3080 became available, it was already sold out. This doesn’t stop people from selling the card at high prices on eBay or buying it at inflated prices.
The sellers’ note, that the GeForce RTX 3080 could be in high demand, has therefore proven to be reliable. In fact, the new graphics card was sold out within moments, and some even suspect bots behind the purchases of the RTX 3080.
What does the situation look like right now? The first models of the RTX 3080 have appeared on eBay, and some believe they can make a really good deal.
Because the prices are significantly above the recommended retail price.
Here lies the problem: When demand is very high, so-called scalpers also appear: people who are only interested in buying products to then resell them for exorbitant amounts.
A possible problem: The RTX 3080 could also become interesting for miners. AMD had similar issues with the demand for its Radeon 400 and 500 models. Nvidia could expect a similar problem with its price-performance tip here.
Buying RTX 3080 – the actual price of the graphics card
Nvidia itself had officially set the price of the GeForce RTX 3080 at 699 euros. However, it is no longer available at this price.
For the custom models, a bit more is usually demanded, as manufacturers further adapt the hardware to users’ needs. In general, we recommend the custom models anyway, which are often better and stronger than the Founder Edition model.
Can the graphics card still be purchased anywhere? Occasionally, the RTX 3080 is still available at various online shops. The Founder Edition is no longer available at Nvidia itself.
