Streamer Félix “xQc” Lengyel was for a long time the number 1 on Twitch. However, he could only become that big on the platform because he was kicked out of his eSports professional team before.
Who is it about? Streamer xQc is one of the biggest names in the international streaming world. From 2020 to 2022, xQc was the most-watched Twitch channel (Source: SullyGnome.com).
His top spot changed when he accepted a deal with the competition in June 2023. The streaming platform Kick secured the streamer exclusively for around 100 million dollars.
However, xQc has since returned to Twitch after his contract with Kick expired. His success is primarily based on one factor: His expulsion from the Overwatch pro team Dallas Fuel.
2 Suspensions Lead to Twitch Career
Why did xQc have to fear for his career? Things didn’t always go as smoothly for xQc as they do now. Before his career as a streamer, he was a professional player on the Overwatch team Dallas Fuel. In January 2018, Dallas Fuel lost to the Houston Outlaws team, after which xQc made a homophobic insult against one of the opposing players (Source: PC Gamer). This led to xQc receiving a suspension for the current stage.
In the following stage in early March 2018, xQc was allowed to play again but was immediately suspended again. This time, xQc used an emote in the Twitch chat towards the moderator in a racially disparaging manner (Source: PC Gamer). A few days later, Dallas Fuel announced that they would permanently part ways with xQc.
In an interview with Dexerto, the former pro player explained: “I didn’t know what to do. I really thought I was finished. I thought that was pretty much the end of my career.”
Prior to that, xQc had often streamed on Twitch. However, after his expulsion from Dallas Fuel, he was able to focus entirely on the platform, and due to his controversy with Dallas Fuel, many viewers tuned in from the very beginning.
Ultimately, this led to his rise as one of the biggest streamers, as he initially played Overwatch and was able to impress his viewers with his skills.
xQc was also able to secure his financial success through online casino streams. He played in online casinos during his streams and even lost 170,000 euros in 2 minutes at one point. Through these contracts with online casinos xQc was able to make a significant amount of money.
In summary, it can be said that xQc’s expulsion from Dallas Fuel led to a successful career on Twitch. Only then could the 30-year-old focus on the platform and his content there.
