The developers of Total War: Warhammer 3 have now officially announced the first mini-DLC for the great strategy game. It delivers a faction that fans have been speculating about for a long time, but also contains a big surprise.
What kind of DLC is this? Fans will have to be patient until Nagash heralds the end of the world in the next major DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3. Before that, there will be new content for Cathay – a China-inspired faction in Warhammer Fantasy, ruled by powerful and ancient dragons.
This new DLC is the first of several planned mini-DLCs, called “Character Packs”. These will provide fans with new content at a faster pace than extensive DLCs allow. However, the content will also be more limited.
The first Character Pack introduces a faction in Total War: Warhammer 3 that has been on fans’ radar for a long time: The Tiger Men. They have been mentioned in several places in the game, but not much more. With the DLC, you can finally take some of them to the battlefield as Cathay.

What’s included in the DLC? The Character Pack includes:
- 1 legendary lord (and thus a new playable faction)
- 1 normal lord that you can hire for your armies
- 1 normal hero with special abilities
- 3 unique units
The new legendary lord is Bhashiva, a powerful tiger woman with white fur. With a Katar (a historical dagger from India) in each hand, she is said to move like a shadow on the battlefield and be especially fast.
Bhashiva is, by the way, a completely new character in the lore of Warhammer Fantasy and was created by Creative Assembly in collaboration with Games Workshop. The normal hero is a “Clawspeaker”, a spellcaster with access to the Lore of Beasts.
In addition to the DLC, a legendary hero will also be released, but free for all players. The developers have not revealed who it will be.
Fans are surprised but also excited
How are the fans reacting to this? So far, the community’s response to the first mini-DLC has been overwhelmingly positive.
The Tiger Men have been longed for. And even though some fans expected a different legendary lord (such as the monkey king, of which there is also a version in Warhammer), the tiger lady is being welcomed warmly.

The price of the new DLC is also well received. The Character Pack will cost £3.99 (€4.99). “seems fair”, says sock_with_a_ticket on Reddit.
When will the DLC be released? The developers have not yet revealed an exact release date, but the DLC is expected to be released before the end of spring and before “Lords of the End Times”.
