In Helldivers 2, the developers are now taking a different approach to weapon balancing. This topic has been hotly debated from the start, but now a turnaround is expected. The first ideas have now been presented by the developers.
What problem is there currently with Helldivers? The developers of Helldivers 2 are currently working to overhaul their game. Their main focus is on weapon balance, which has been an eyesore for many players since the game’s launch.
After some unfortunate updates, the developers promised to repair their game within 60 days. Players are not dissatisfied with the basic game itself, but rather with the fact that all weapons in the game feel too weak. When a weapon is strong, it is likely to be nerfed quickly.
In their new patch, which is set to be released on September 17, the developers will significantly improve some weapons.
The next patch will also address flamethrowers. It will also get fiery with the war bond “Flame of Freedom“
Four Times the Damage and No Nerfs
Which weapon is it about? The railgun in Helldivers 2 will be significantly improved in the next patch. The weak point damage (in English Durable Damage) will increase from 60 to 225. These numbers refer to the safe mode of the railgun.
In unsafe mode, the weapon now deals 250% more damage when fully charged, instead of just 150% more damage. If the weapon is not fully charged, starting from September 17, when the patch is released, it will deal 150% extra damage instead of 50%.
The weapon will receive no nerfs or other downgrades with the patch. As developer Niklas Malmborg explained in response to a question on X.com, the time for charging will remain the same.
Is it only about the railgun in the patch? No, the developers also want to buff other weapons with the patch. For example, the damage of flamethrowers will be increased by 33%. On Discord, Johan Pilestedt writes: “The update we are bringing to market now is a much larger, holistic measure to realign gameplay […]”
He further describes that many liked weapons like the flamethrower, the railgun, and the R-36 Eruptor because they handled well against heavily armored opponents. This was not planned back then but should make a comeback now.
Pilestedt also writes on Discord that a squad of “madmen” equipped with four flamethrowers should be able to take down a bile titan in the future. The patch, which is set to be released on September 17, is expected to be exciting. Lastly, players thought that the new faction would finally come into play: Helldivers 2: A third faction enters the galactic war, but Over-Earth says: It was just a system error
